Anyone notice or know what these designated green painted zones with new technology painted on it... its in Oklahoma at rest stops the green painted area are in the center semi lanes... is this for electric trucks or automated trucks? Couldn't find any articles on it...
No clue, but they have it in Wisconsin also at at least 1 rest area I can think of. Just figured it was something new they were testimg on the pavement.
Iowa has them also in a couple rest areas between Des Moines and Iowa City. Supposed to be sensors for open parking spaces. If you drive on 35 north in Minnesota. There is a rest area just before Minneapolis that has a sighn that says how many open spaces there are. I believe its supposed to end up being something similar. I know they are the last spots parked on. New technology launching at Iowa rest stops for truck drivers
Here is a quote from the article @Hawkeye72 linked above. Nearly 90 percent of all crashes involving truck drivers are because of fatigue. Not even close. And putting in an expensive sensor system that is broken 6 months later is useless to any driver. Oh look, it says there are 31 spaces available at a rest area 120 miles away. You get there and lo and behold, all full with 25 trucks on the exit and entrance ramp.
