Ok, now I'm curious. I'm in CDL school and got pre-hired with Roehl which seems like a good company but this seems better. They say they hire recent grads but will they help me do the double's road skills test and let me work while the hazat background check to goes through? It doesn't make sense for a recent driver to be unemployed while that goes through.
What's their policy for passengers and pets? And if they allow "spouses" how do they define "spouses"?
Also, do you take trucks home with you? Should you live close to a terminal?
Thanks for information.

Some guy's do take the truck home.
i live close to the terminal so i don't. as for the rider policy i don't think they allow riders due to the fact that there would be no where for them to sleep since you wont have a sleeper in your truck. you'll spend most nights at the terminals and sometimes a hotel.
I would say call your closest terminal and ask for the details as i don't want to tell you wrong. -

If OD is offering you a definite job offer I would go with them over Interstate. You are not going to get nearly as many benis or make as much with any of the training co's. Ask IS how often they are going to pick up tab for hotels?
It would be worth the wait for me. Good Luck! -
they arnt offering me a job thats just it. I wont know anything till probley middle of jan or first of feb. but what if i have another job offer at interstate?
I need to get on the road soon so i dont loose my training that i need for the road test and end up with nothing? What would you fellow truckers do in my position? Thanks
-
I would surely wait if at all possible.
but you have to do what is in your best interest.
maybe drive for 6 months and then come back to OD ?
As for the hotels they pay for ALL hotel expenses. you will stay in a hotel if all terminal rooms are full. -
Well thank you. I think I'm going to try for interstate. I've thought about it and dont feel safe driving d/tripples in the winter for my first year...Or has anyone drove d/tripples for them or for anyone in he winter? are they that much better than interstate?

They are pretty much King of the road as far as non-union companies out there.
and unlike most OTR companies you can go local in a year if you like and get a pretty good hourly pay scale. I would say 1 HUGE advantage of going with OD is you
don't have to drive all over LA or NYC looking for some #### business nobody ever heard of. OD is Terminal to Terminal ONLY !
As for doubles or triples it's really not that much difference than driving a single trailer. you just can't back for more than a few feet so you drop and then back 1 at a time. -
yup i am ---- out of the columbus terminal!
-
condocassano yes i will team with you out of columbus
