Just another driver who foolishly let his license expire and starting over again...I am considering Earl Henderson....Spoke to someone there today they will put me on the road right away.... with a trainer for 3 months. I live in Dallas and its real hard to find a local job, without that recent experience. Really dont want to do OTR, a regional or dedicated run would be good, but not really sure what company would offer those...in the southeast..southwest or midwest. I have run the northern states and want to see something new any info from my fellow truckers would be awesome. I have read many post here and its really not easy figuring out what company would be the best to get started again. Just like anyone else here ...I dont wanta sit, I want miles and a good company to work for.

Paschall Truck Lines would probably hire you. I read they have an auto parts account and get some loads out of Laredo. Several drivers on here wanting to get back on the road were hired by this company.

Thanks for the info....never realized how hard it is to get started again.

Yes, it difficult to get restarted as a driver second time around. I kept my license throughout the years, almost gave it up last year as it costs so much more for the CDL-A and I was not using it, but I decided not to do that and I am glad of that decision now.
As far as me, I have not driven for 10 years so I am going through a school from scratch so that I will have the confidence and knowledge to be competent and safe on the road. Before I stopped driving I was hitting all 48 States and some of the lower Canadian Provinces. Getting started again, I am not so worried about the miles, I know they will come with time, just as in the past.
Most of the posts I read, the new drivers are always looking at how much they will get paid per mile and how many miles they will get weekly, of course I don't want to sit around a truck stop not rolling, but I feel getting good training, good company, and a well rounded experience is much more of a priority.
Now I'm not going to go to one of those "CDL Mill" companies, but would like to go to a company that has a solid training program with a follow on driver position. So far I have narrowed my search down to Roelh and Millis, both seem to have a training program geared toward a good foundation of training at their company school followed by OTR training with a trainer.
Can anyone else reccomend other companies I should look into? -
Take a look at what Roehl is offering in the Texas regional. Terminal in Grand Prairie. Roehl will offer you CDL schooling if you don't have a CDL but it is up in Wisconsin. Read what GoBlue has written on his time going through Roehl's schooling. If you have your CDL then you will go through their inexperience driver orientation for one week then out with a trainer for a week or so. If you want to know about Henderson send a PM to Sabine in MO. She drives for Henderson. Also do a search. Much has been written about Henderson.
