    Update.....

Well i drove down to Evansville and looked at the trailer. Looks good for a 95. I managed to get the shop to throw in an annual and fix three lights not working, trailer hasn't moved since last September. Tires were low 60psi-90psi.

Managed to get it for $2400.

Since i like a challenge I booked a TQL load of flour out of Evansville back home.

Get over to the flour plant and get nervous my trailer will get rejected big list of inspection points that have to be meet before they will load. So I swept out my trailer well. They never said anything about the trailer. Ended up putting just under 43000 pounds of flour on the floor.

The cross members look straight with the weight in the box.

I did notice when they where loading the cross members flexed as the forklift rolled over them loaded with the pallets but always returned straight.

    Is this normal???

yeah thats pretty normal sometimes with all the jerking around back there im like what the hell are they doing back there lol honestly my last trailer I had didnt look half as good as that and it lasted me 2 years of coarse I baid like $5500 for it but cant really complain too much cause running it for two years it more then paid for itself the one I got now was $14,000 and it should last me a long time.

just one thing to really look for is buldges on the side of trailer thats what was wrong with the first one i had they got bigger and bigger till it was about to collapse I ended up selling it for scrap not even good as a storage trailer since bottom was about to fall out.

Little late, but if the bill was that outstanding you could have very well picked it up for just the shop bill. Talking to the shop and find out how far along they with the mechanic's lean . Once that's done , they could sell it for the shop bill.

it would have been too expensive once you start replacing panels. those panels are $800 a piece however selling for scrap i got $1000 for it so not too bad

Trip home I lost one of the top middle lights, which is one the shop fixed so they must not have gotten it snaped in correctly. One tail light went out. Developed a small air leak on the supply line to the trailer tandems. The door that isn't new the bottom hinge bolts pulled through the door. One tire is junk has a couple of bad spots.

All easy fixes, I'm going to.put a backing plate for that bottom hinge.

    Trailer also pulled straight.

This was a weird deal. The bill was from a different trailer. The owner picked up the other trailer which was a reefer and dropped off the dry van and said they would pay the bill when they came back for the van.

Was just passing on info that may save someone else some money one day? Hope your new trailer does a fine job , once you get the small bugs worked out.

Evansville is a hot market for vans. Floor flexing like that is normal.

I'd check those hub oil levels real careful if they haven't been.

I like junky old trailers though. They're fun to wrench on and fix up. My company owns this old air-ride Great Dane and it's a hoot to pull around. 24.5 low pro rubber none of them match of course and they only hold 100 psi on odd days. Nice interesting mix of aluminum and steel wheels. One stainless barn door in nice condition and other is dull and rotting. Tire carriage underneath with no tire. Somebody stole the tandem puller one time so I had Great Dane put a new one on haha. Has two foot steps and a vertical hand hold on the nose that leads up to a vent door similar to one on the back of a reefer box. I think it might have been a used to haul produce or something before. Every time I haul a load in that thing it feels like I'm getting away with something I shouldn't be:biggrin_25523:
