You have to do a skillls test for every driver that takes a vacation or maternity leave ?
What part of the fmcsa is that in ?

Yes, under fmcsa 391.31. Our company policy is that anyone off the road for more than 30 days must have a check ride before returning to duty.
Since this mostly applies to guys coming off workmens comp, it makes sense to ensure they are fully fit. I'd say it's a waste, except for the 10% who fail it.tscottme Thanks this. -
Gotcha
The check ride takes all day ?
Or just half an hour ? -
About 2 hours all together - pretrip, couple, drive, back, post tripDRTDEVL Thanks this.

Sounds like the cheapest driver recruiting they will ever do .
couple of hours and hire a driver that’s worked there before so you know if they are reliable or not .
I totally understand the check ride for a medical or disability injury claim to restart driving -
In comparison, yes it's cheaper, but it's still a cost. -
Better than hanging around the fuel island trying to poach drivers .
seen that happening a lot lately . -
What's wrong with that? LOL

“Unemployed too long to be employable”
Interpretation.., You can’t stand knight or swift for longer than six months. So they ain’t gonna fool with you.
I don’t think I could stand them for longer than six months either. -
It's their loss, I'm in my third day of orientation with another company that is not as big. Life does go on without Knight and I'm finding that out.Sirscrapntruckalot Thanks this.
