So I'm driving from Georgia to Tennessee going up Rt 27. I think some of the smaller roads in the south have posted speeds a little on the high side. little secondary highways that are posted 60mph and have pretty sharp S-Turns seems a little dangerous. But that's just my opinion.
Anyhow, Rt 27 Is getting re-paved. The right lane drops off right down into the grass with no shoulder and the left lane is repaved as well but is about 4" higher than the right lane. I'm doing about 55mph and I round a bend and there's an old lady tooling down the highway coming right towards me on her little Rascal scooter. I steer into the left lane, my left front steer tire goes up over the 4" rise but the right front tire hooks it and jerks the truck right back into the right lane (33,000 pound load in the trailer too). Rips the steering wheel right out of my grasp. I manage to swerve around the woman and kept the truck from rolling over, But that sure had my heart racing. After that spike of adrenaline wore off I felt like I just ran a marathon. I was cooked for the day.![]()

I once was on a back road in OR hauling pallets. I came around a bend and saw traffic (from the other way) at a dead stop. Reason? A donkey was sitting dead center of the road (no joke). I think was the 1st guy to file a late call on the qualcom with the reason: Jackxxx on road! My phone was ringing from the office about 10 seconds later..... I had to take a pic and send it to my DM. He somehow morphed the pic and qualcom message and hung it on his cubicle.....
Lesson from both our stories? Be ready for anything.... -
Ive experienced that lucky nothing was in the road i hate those drop offs tho i tried to get my truck up on one so i wouldnt miss my exit and the height difference was to much i had to hit it at a angle then straighten out before i ran off the road the trailer was everywhere i though i was a goner.
