But the answers do change from time to time.

Wanting to start a trucking career, but going into it with my eyes open. I know it ain't easy and that the first year or two will be pretty rough. I'm 49, married, kids all grown up. Wife is working, I'm job hunting. If I get into trucking, wife plans to follow my and team drive.

What I need is advice on trucking schools in or near Indiana. I don't have enough cash to pay tuition up front, but my wife will if I get into it. I've seen the red flags for CR England (too bad, only 6 month lock in), so where else could I get a good start? And who is the best when we have the cash for my wife to pay up front?

Covenant and CRST are big on husband wife teams. Not sure if they both offer schooling I know CRST does.

Look into expediting . Better money , far less turnover and if you go to a preapproved school they'll start you out at full pay without a trainer in a straight truck. However , I would advise teaming a few months with an experienced driver.
Check with FedEx Custom Critical for info on approved schools.
Yes n you make more money in an expedite straight truck . Both shippers and receivers are ready and waiting when you arrive. None of this sit at the dock for hours BS.
You also are the one that picks the loads you'll haul .
