I don’t think mailman bought Simon. I may be wrong. I’m pretty sure central refrigerated bought Simon and shortly after swift bought central.

I believe Simon was bought by Swift after one of his drivers made a special delivery to a courthouse in Utah (I think Utah). Oh, and his wife caught him screwing around and was going to divorce him and take part of the company.
It was a real higgily piggely.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

It was a Simon driver who drove his truck into the capitol building in Sacramento. It wasn't one of their better days.

Trucker who drove into California Capitol identified

I thought old stinky dick Simon went out shortly after one of the drivers made a delivery to the capital building in Sacramento.

The industry has changed, as others have said, better and worse. Basically nowadays, all kinds of ‘eyeballs’ watching you. Trucks have gotten more complicated albeit better and worse. One can go way down the rabbit hole on this topic, how far you wanna go?
Are asking should you go into trucking?

    jason6541 Thanks this.

I was doing construction work, which ended the day after 9-11 when I got laid off from the job I had pulling pipe wrenches.

With a then-newly acquired CDL, 2 days later I had another job 10 wheeling seed and farm supplies all over Delmarva and south Jersey.

That’s when I decided I rather enjoyed this “trucking” thing. :)
