I have to do some more dedicated shots of just the truck terminal since I was doing this weird thing right here. But here's some of the shop in the background with some nice, juicy, Blake's Lotaburger!!
Gearjammin' Penguin and x1Heavy Thank this. -
So what happened to this place? Who owned it? When did it close down n why?? Could it be resurrected? I'm sure it could likely be bought for back taxes at this point...

All the traffic coming down Highway 54 had to turn right in town on business 40 to continue west. The truckstop in question was at the entrance to interstate 40
When the new exit was built on interstate 40 and first supplying J went in and then loves it pretty much ended all the truck traffic and of course it being an independent most of the big fleets no longer were going in there
That along with the CF bankruptcy really kind of ended that place cornflakes use that as a huge relay yard there were nights you went in there and thought you were in the CF yard -
Tucumcari truck terminal, always was a Shell brand. I'm going back to late 70's/early 80's.

Thats a shame...I guess someone bought the lot and has other plans...

If anything is ever going to be there again they would’ve had to knock everything down and start fresh anyway. Just a bunch of old falling down buildings.

The state of a modern truckstop leaves a bit to be desired.
Caters to the automotive crowd mostly.
Stopped at a place in northern Missouri yesterday that used to be my regular stop in the early 80s on my way south.
Eagleville truck stop and the dinner bell Cafe.
Old style joint with 2 floors.
Jeez don't think it's had a good life since then and looks near collapse.
Still operating but appears to be on life support. Told the cafe hasn't been open for years.
Tucumcari shell was another old time regular stop for me before the chains took over.Bud A. and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this. -
