Exactly!,The new home test kits are alot more accurate then you think. I am on aprescription med that will show a positive. My employer already knows about this and recieved documentation supporting taking the med. and being able to drive on it. However i decided to buy a kit to see how long the drug stayed in my system. The kit showed a positive reading. I f you are that seriuos about getting back behind the wheel, then pay for a folicle test yourself before you consider applying.

Stay away from the mega-carriers and it shouldn't be an issue. Hair follicle testing is expensive and most smaller companies won't do it. After about a month should be plenty long enough to pass a simple urine test.

My wife is a RN studing for her masters to become a RNP. She currently works at a out patient druck and alchohol out patient treatment center. 30 days is the most u should have to wait to show clean on a drug test, however with heavy users she has seen tests come back positive after 45. In conversation with her, she suggests going 60 days then buying a drug test kit from any pharmacy like Rite Aid or CVS and taking the test yurself to make sure your good to go. Hair can go back years but is very exspensive for companies to do. Thats why most companies go with urine samples. The tests that u buy are just as acurate as the ones you take at DOT.

Ya I would say thirty days a general rule of thumb. Like the other poster said, heavy users maybe a little longer and it also depends on the individual.
After 30 days or so I really wouldn't sweat it. -
Even if you apply to someone who does a hair follicle test, they won't go back more than 90 days because it gets really expensive, assuming you could provide a hair sample that long to begin with (about an inch a month). After 30 days you're good to go for urine. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I really don't know why you'd want to come back out here, let alone one of the starter companies. Most are turning trucks down, putting idle-eliminating sensors on, and hiring dumb dispatcjers. If you come back out, I advise you have your own truck. That's really the best way.

As far as all the drug testing info, I'm very caught up on how long it stays in, and tests and all that jazz!! I did LOTS of research on it before I started using it and I must say I would not change my decission as narcotics are only a legal herion in my eyes. Either way, I'm shooting for a smaller type company because those seem to be the ones that will take my time off as an ok. I have been looking at RTI, they said I can be off the road up till march of next year and they would still take me! I've started reading about them on here and its hit and miss to who likes them. I was just trying to border the gap and past medication....if I wait the full year, then for sure I'll be training again with someone who has less experience then me it seems, yuck!!
Thanks again for all the info guys!! I know this is a touchy subject and didn't wanna stir the pot but I'm happy non of the IF YOU DO DRUGS WE DON"T WANT YOU OUT HERE ppl have shown up here yet, LOL. keep on truckin yall and be safe!! -
Not all companies do hair test, most still go by urine. 1 month you will be clean from your script, even from that jet fuel you been doing from Cali.

Your concern shouldn't be the drug test, but now the abilities test that all companies are being more and more forced to do. Can your back tolerate being bent over for three straight minutes or lifting 25 pounds above your head from the floor, etc? A lot of companies are now going to this testing more and more. This and sleep apnea testing. These tests are pushing drivers out more than drug testing is.
