Afterthought: he would get a nice pay boost, if he renewed his hazmat. :Transportation cost

    I renewed mine in August.

It's not hard....it is a bit of legwork, however.

But....trucking isn't for lazy people, anyway.

Myself and others on this forum have worked for CDL temp agencies, and they're a good deal. The pay is good and some have benefits also.

Not a problem -- we have talked about it, and he is agreeable to renewing his Haz should the need arise :)

I actually started looking at this outfit but couldn't find the info you have provided -- VERY HELPFUL !!!
Sounds pretty much like it may be a good match for what he is looking for, if they have a shop somewhere here in CT.

Bringing the rig home is a nice option, one he has used but only occasionally in the past. And yes, dry van and drop-n-hook is among his "MUST-HAVES."

I will definitely be looking at this one further, as well :)
    MANY, MANY THANKS !!!

I missed the dry van as a "Must Have" in you post.
I listed all reefer companies with Southwest Runs.

    That's cool, Chinatown -- while reefer isn't his first choice, it's not a total deal-breaker, either ;)

With dry van his odds of going to the West Coast are slim. Most dry van, such as Werner & Schneider don't send solo drivers to the West Coast from the East Coast unless it's teams. I know there are anomalies to that, before someone jumps on me. So, if he has his sights set on Southwest runs, he should ask about that before accepting any job.

I know how your husband feels about wanting runs to the Southwest. I did mostly reefer runs to the Southwest from Tennessee. I liked it so much I moved to Nevada. Arizona is also a good state. Arizona is phasing out state income taxes and Nevada has no state income taxes and no taxes on food at the grocery stores.

Wow, Chinatown -- that's really neat. And funny you should bring up those two states because B and I have actually been chatting on and off about moving to either of those locations!!! Nice to know about the taxes, too ;) I am originally from the Great State of Florida, where there are no state taxes ... unlike this silly state ......................................

I love Florida and have lived there for several years. Only problem now is home prices are going up due to all the New Yorkers moving there. I really love Henderson, Nevada though. It borders Las Vegas and never know if you're in Las Vegas or Henderson. I'm about 15 or 20 minute drive to the Las Vegas Strip. Beautiful view at night from my living room window.
