I didn’t read through all nine pages of this thread but have you thought about using the VA’s VocRehab to learn a new trade?

VocRehab can also track you into a Federal job which is Union, nearly impossible to get fired and you’re home every night.

I’m also a retired Gunny, no formal education but I work for the Feds making $74k a year.

    Gunny376 and x1Heavy Thank this.

Spouse was a federal employee when she decided to escape and join me over the road. I think she was a GS6 pending a move up into GS7 and a move to North Little Rock with bigger responsibilities etc. Moving up from a 50,000 dollar office to a 250,000 dollar office that needs balancing to the penny each end of shift. She was liable for shortages.

She wanted out. For her enough was enough.

All jobs have their pluses and minuses but the solid job security and steady paycheck is tough to beat.

Job type is a big factor in a Fed job, I started a little over a year ago as a GS-11 and am looking to move down the hall into a GS-12 position hopefully by years end.

Oh well Millis is out of the equation for Mississippi. There's others.

FFE is one. Yea I've read and heard the horror stories.

Whatever. A lot of the moans and groans I've read on here are from non hackers, slackers, and whinners!

Do trucking companies sreew you over?
Any and all compaines do, regardless of the business or industry! Freaking Dairy Queen and McDonald's screwes its employees over.

    Get over it!

I thinking with KLLM the training period is run as a team operation and not you the student running solo with the trainer guiding you. Something to keep in mind.

I have not spoken to them yet, but received a conditional job offer starting at 0.38 cpm.

You would live at the school with a roommate, fed 3 square a day and it looks like they pay you on top of that. Not bad.

Reefers are pretty steady freight and lots of night driving—a plus for me.

Go to kllm.com and also choose kllm when filling out the app. If you go to FFE website they will ask you to do it again
