I never liked working with co workers.I didn't like being around lazy people that didn't pull there weight.Or being overseen by the boss man.I've hauled about 2000 cars this year and I haven't heard for the boss in 3 weeks. That's the way I like it .But they know I'm taking care of business.

Starting out, and realizing I've got a steep and sharp learning curve my first year or two?

I believe K. I. S. S. ~ Keep It Simple Stupid applies combined with the Laws (Courtesy of Mr. Murphy) of Unforeseen AND Unanticipated Consequences

I intend to get and all endorsements I can. Always be prepared should opportunity come a knockin'

But for now? I intend to just go with dry van or refer. Dull, boring , monotous?

    Perhaps. Time will tell.

Trucking for me is a means to an end. Income is a significant part of that. But not something that is going to come forth until you've earned your spurs, and have built your Rep.

A good solid reputation is something that takes a good amount of time to build, but only seconds to lose and destroy

Well when your starting out and for ever always remember to GOAL.Get out and look.Trucks are always getting tore up at truck stops because guys are guessing they are not going to hit that truck in the other parking space next to them and always change lanes very very slowly so you don't run over that car that is passing you on the right. If I'm ever parked at a truck stop And a driver is wanting to back in beside me I help him out.So they don't tare my truck up.

Exactly. And with this new , over pampered generation that's coming into the work force?

Who have never done anything other than sit under the AC and play video games?

Can't come to work? Won't come to work, won't work when they do come to work. Doesn't like taking orders. Believe they're doing you a favor just by gracing you with their presence?

The only reason I would get hazmat is if I was going to haul tanker.A lot a beginner companies won't pay you any more to haul a load of batteries than they will to haul a load of paper towels. So why take on the hassle and risk of hauling hazmat if you are not going to be payed a premium.

    Thanks.

GOAL ~ which I initially picked up from Trucker Who off if YouTube is already burned into my brain housing group.

And it ties in from my years in the marines. Check, check, and then check again! And then check again. We're not paying you to be a, screw up!

Your being paid to get it right the first time every times.

Hyper vigilance and Hyper attentiveness seems to be the order of the day

I am one of those skinny pampered gamers. But you’d be surprised, some of us can work. I have delivered papers overnight in a newspaper truck, stacked bricks on pallets and worked for an oil drilling company. It’s just that when I am not working, I like AC and virtual playgrounds. :)

Some companies may require you to have hazmat to get on though. But if they don't pay a premium.I wouldn't work for them.As a new driver I wouldn't haul hazmat for anybody. You have a wreck with that stuff they will bury you under the jail

Another thing to be aware of is these companies will advertise. We pay .50 a mile or what ever. That can be miss leading.Cause they don't tell you .05 fuel bonus,.03 northeast bonus,.05 safety bonus and if you don't hit there goal marks your only making .37 a mile
