PM me your contact details, I have a friend in Maine, used to be one of my drivers when I lived in Maine, he works for a local outfit up there, I can see if they are hiring and if they are interested...

I am very sorry you got the boot Oldnewbie. I have learned much from reading about your adventures at Swift!
I hope you are able to find a new job soon! You passed the 6 month milestone, so that opens some doors for you. Hang in there dude....

I'm so sorry, oldnewbie! This seems so unexpected that I thought you were joking when you started this thread. There is no doubt in my mind, though, that you will land on your feet. You're a smart guy... and will do just fine. :biggrin_25525:

Thanks! I'm not too concerned about finding another driving job even though I did get fired. I hope that other carriers will look the whole picture as it relates to my driving experience. Although I certainly have some issues with logging (I'm a freakin' hard head) I can say one thing with certainty. I have to change the thinking I've developed over the last 45 years as a worker. It's not just about getting the job done, it's also about getting the job done and following the rules. Swift has to take a harder line about the rules because, IMHO, Swift is a training company so they've got to satisfy their insurors that they are doing everything they can do to reduce liability.
As it turned out, I was a liability they couldn't tolerate. If I had been with another carrier, some of my indisgressions would not have been an issue, but with Swift, and because of their huge concern with liability, they were.

    I don't know Sonny....

You got fired from a company that don't really fire anyone.... How bad is that gonna look when you go apply for a real carrier & they see that Swift fired you?

If making mistakes is a human trait then I am 100% human!!!:biggrin_2559:
Tearing Swift down serves no useful purpose and would take energy and concentration away from the task at hand, i.e., finding a new job.

Our friend Redd said in a post that Swift probably did me a favor. He could be right (######!). I'm not an old school driver but I am an old school thinker. I'd like to find a carrier that is strictly in the business of moving freight from Point A to Point B...safely, but without the entanglements of microscopic supervision. Some my screw-ups at Swift would be screw-ups at any reputable carrier, but some of them would not have been an issue, e.g., over speed. I'm not saying I want to drive 70+. What I'm saying is that being governed at 62mph can sometimes be more of a hazard to drivers around you than driving with the flow of traffic can be.

Greener pastures?? Oh, hell yeah. That's how I roll!:biggrin_25525:

Are you gonna continue on your original ultimate plan of swift/prime/england?

If so, I can walk over to the Prime terminal and ask them if they'd hire you even though you were fired from swift?

How stupid of me! Ofcourse they would. They hired ironpony!

    outerspacehillbilly and JustSonny Thank this.
