People do get fired from Swift. Those are the ones who are usually on boards like this crying to the heavens how they were wronged by the big ol bad corporation. However, they are loathe to admit they were fired and will claim they were starved out when the fact of the matter is they just couldn't cut it.
Oldgoatie, I am sorry this happened to you. I have noticed a certain ....distraction... in many of your posts and am curious whether it may have been a factor. I'm not saying it's wrong. Just maybe a factor. You seem so happy with Ms. Maine. I pray the Grandmothers make your marriage soft and the Grandfathers guide you in the ways of women. On second thought....don't listen to them. They can't even deal with the Grandmothers... Oh, well. Good luck to you anyway.
I already feel the loss of a good team member. As others have said, perhaps this is actually a blessing. You may well find that more local or regional position that will keep you closer to home.
*sigh* You are right, though. Swift is a stickler company for rules, regulations and DOT compliance, often judging log books even more strictly that DOT would. Service has become a focus point as well. They want it done right, but they also want it done legally. The two concepts don't always overlap completely.
I have not yet heard any word on the impact of that weight ticket I received. I suppose it's time to check on that.
Oldnewbie, not a Swiftie as of approx 1430CST today!

From meeting your personally I can say that you're next venture won't be hard to find and that you'll fill the needs of your next carrier. It's rare that a "newb" like you comes in to this industry with such a thirst for knowledge, leading up to school, within training, and then putting it to use in the real world of driving. You have a desire to do this job that most don't, but I also know what waits for you up in Maine so hopefully you'll be able to find a happy medium between both work and life in general. Try the Pelletier brothers logging company up there, atleast then we'd get to see you on TV

BTW, those weight tickets are easy to avoid. Just don't roll in at the scale house!Injun Thanks this. -
Uhm just curious and tell me none of my business if you want but don't you now owe Swift for schooling? I thought it was a one year deal with them.
Other than that good luck and keep the forward movement up. Problems only overcome those that come to a stop in life. -
I'd like to see me on TV but I'd rather be on the cover of the Rollin' Stone!
(Yo Nik, can I git a witness?)
Say Hey to the missus and keep safe!panhandlepat Thanks this. -

I replied to your message with some info for a company I used to do some work with related to my former job. Call that guy, he may be able to help you out. He has hired guys with their CDL still warm from the lamination. And its not a bad company to work for as long as you work hard.
