I have one of those Omnitrac ELD units bolted to my dash, touch screen, 1980's technology touch screen. The data entry is a real PIA to say the least. I tried one of those $5 computer pens, it did not work, but a ball point pen does. Problem with that is that I had ink all over the screen, and realized that one day I am going to poke a hole in the plastic and then what?

    I found this... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D7VWZQ2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There are other brands at lesser prices, but this one so far has done the job. It holds a charge for quite a long time, in fact I have yet to charge it in the few weeks I have been using it. Hope this helps someone.

They come with a styus pen, usually hiding in the back or on the top right side. It looks like a small rectangular pice of plastic with groves in it. Kinda inset into the unit, not completely obvious that it pulls out.

    Justrucking2 Thanks this.

That is what I thought too, I looked all over that thing, nothing. None of our other guys have them either, as this is a common problem in our tiny fleet. Our safety gal said to use a pencil, the eraser end. Didn't work for beans. Tried one of those $5 touch screen pens, did not work either. This new pen I have, with the capacitive feature works like a champ, but it has to be on, just the hard rubber stylus is hit and miss.

The technology on these particular ELDs is very old, at least to my own observation, like running Windows 3.1. For the money they paid for these things, along with the monthly fees, this should not be an issue.
