If you don't want to wait look into flatbed. I'm in training right now and the longest we've had to wait including chain/tarp time has been about 3 hours. That's with one exception where we made it to the shipper after they closed and had to wait till morning to load.

For the most part that is true. Flatbedding I'm usually in and out fairly quickly. 2 weeks ago I picked up a steel flatbed load going to Disney's Animal Kingdom for their new Avatar theme area. They had to check off each individual piece of steel which had its own serial number. Took 3 guys 12 hours to get me loaded one piece at a time.

I didn't mind so much as they were steady working on it. The shippers that ignore you for hours and you have no clue when you're getting loaded / unloaded is what gets under my skin.

For a drop and hook load I'm usually in and out in under 30 minutes. Considering intermodal is majority drop and hook it's about 2 hours a day if you 4 drop and hook loads on you. Live Load/Unload is usually about 2 hours or less. All though ES3 in York PA you'll be there for hours if you have a live unload.

This is assuming the intermodal guy disregards all the flats, bad tires, and missing lights and mudflaps, and trucks on like he didn't have any better sense. Yes, the mega dry vans make the list, but the intermodal chassis' have to take the prize.

We hit the dock and they are in the trailer before we can sign in. Some guys complain of an hour wait, but thats only one pickup. Anytime we wait 15 mins past our pickup time we get paid.
We sit in traffic, we get paid. We wait on another driver to show, we get paid.
This is my first trucking job so im kinda spoiled
