The only time you need to log 8 hours in the sleeper is if you're doing the split sleeper berth thing, otherwise your 10 hour break can be all off duty

Yeah, for your clock, Tucker, but I believe the DOT wants that 8hrs continuous. Maybe I have accepted incorrect information. Wouldn't be the first time.

You can switch from line 1 to line 2 for 15 minutes, go back to line 1 for 15 minutes, and repeat for 10 hours. As long as you stay on lines 1 & 2 and NEVER drop to line 3 or 4 during that 10 hour period, you have had your "legal" break. There is no violation, as long as your line 1 + line 2 times combine for a 10 hour block of time.

I used to to the show 15 minutes for loading and then off for the rest of the time , but now that I'm local and work 6 on 2 off only time I logged off duty is for that stupid 30 minute break, and everytime I have to log the break I think to myself man I could be home half an hour earlier if it wasn't for this

To achieve the full 14hr reset, it's a sum of 10hrs, it can be a combination of off duty and sleeper? I am not saying anything about this, until I've done some research for my own understanding. I don't really care, but if the sum of 10hrs makes the reset, I'll save 2 or even 3 keystrokes on my QC.

If I split my break, I'll still be needing 8hrs continuous logged in sleeper, though. That's where I was thinking. I always think in my sleeper!

In 10 years I have never logged sleeper except in the rare event I do a split. 10 hours off duty or sleeper or any combination of the two achieves a full 11 and 14. Bulldog broke it down perfectly.

I can't tell if you are asking about a split sleeper or just using a figure of speech.

Legally, you're supposed to be On Duty Not Driving any time you're loading or unloading. And yes, it does deduct from your 70.

I get paid by the hour, so I stay On Duty Not Driving.
