On the Job CDL A Training in Houston, TX

I've been reading many posts here and have come across lots of worthwhile information, but I wanted to take this opportunity to ask for advice specific to my needs. I've gotten my CDL A Permit, and have driven a few hundred miles with a friend, but I'm looking for a local outfit that does local or regional routes which also offers CDL training for students, basically on the job training.

I read a post earlier in which user Chinatown had mentioned a local foodservice company, which I have since applied to, but haven't yet heard back from. So I was just curious if any of y'all know of any other companies in the Houston area that might offer what I'm looking for, so I can apply to them as well.

Obviously I'd prefer to train and work locally, but if that doesn't work out, I'm thinking I'll go with Jim Palmer trucking due to the fact they offer cdl training and get you on the road within 3-4 weeks. I don't necessarily mind goin the private truck school route either, but the problem is the local DPS which does the road testing is backlogged about 2 months at this point, so it's a lot of sitting around and waiting, and thus not getting paid.

I understand this is somewhat shortsighted of me, but i'm not interested in just getting my CDL, but I'd really like plenty of training as well since this is a serious profession, with serious consequences if things go wrong. That's why I don't want to just go to a mom n pops place to learn how to simply pass my test, but rather a company willing to invest in a driver looking for a long career.

Any help will be very much appreciated.
