So for OTR drivers that do not have a residence. When you are near for say where your ex and kids live do you typically just get a motel room for a couple of nights to spend with your kids?

How many have lived without a residence and how has that worked out?

Find a place to park the truck, get to a rental car (if you don't have access to a loaner from someone there) and get a reasonable room. Works fine for me. 90% of my bills are paperless and handled online, I use my mom's address to receive necessary mail and to maintain a permanent address but live in a 5th wheel trailer which easily roams to the best logistical location.

hubby and i live mostly on the truck. we dont have kids so thats not a worry. we "live" with his sister. we pay them a minimal amount every month, but when i choose to get off the truck for awhile, usually a month at a time, we then pay for half the rent and utilities. we get our mail there also. it gives us a place to go when we want home time. but when im with him we take it pretty much where we want to. we can get a room or stay in the truck.

I rent a room from my brother, More of a charity in my opinion. But it is nice being able to have a room I call my own. A place to keep all the paperwork and such, a place to have mail sent to, and a place I can put down on my drivers licence.

Left home in 2009 to go trucking. Luckily I have good friends to hang out with while I'm at home :biggrin_2559:
