I used to deliver Seattle, head to Americold Eugene, wait hours on the lazy lumpers there and then drive to LA every week nonstop with no drugs. So if a person was doing drugs it was for the high. If you do remember, you could go into a grocery store and buy diet pills called black beautys that I am told were a lot better than beans and x tops.
Logbooks, you mean the book of lies? I got news for you, I have had dispatchers reload my logbook to insure I made a delivery. 10 years ago. So the log book thing is still here.
Fingerprinting a load, yep, #### good excersice, hated the lumper stops.

Pay a ticket on the side of the road, hmmm, no record on DMV cash payout or $1000 fine and on the record. Nope, I'll pay the highway patrolman any day.

Now everybody who runs 395 14, you don't hammer down anymore than you did on the old Sierra HWY. That market in your town, right next to thr attached restaurant, had good cuts of meat back in the 70's. Course it was my steers in their freezers.

I recently got hired immediately upon donating a urine sample. I did have to show my license and Med card. Been driving dumps and low boys all week. It's not OTR....but I'm rolling.

When my oldest daughter was 15, we left her at my folks house (the farm), she about went nuts because she never saw a rotary dial phone before and didnt know how to use one, lmao.
I could just see a young driver being stranded in a place with a rotary phone, lmao.

IMHO the DOT is all over the trucking industry partly because of all the trucks laying on there sides in the ditch and freeway medians, and the fact that, for a lot of years, the best resort for the driver was/is to lie and tell the authorities He/She fell asleep!
