(Keep in mind the application process takes about three repeats in entirety plus about a year to go before a Administrative Law Judge. One big rule with trucking in engineering. You are required to have at least three points of contact getting in and out of a big truck. Never mind moving boxes that might weight as much as 130 pounds each. Or fighting a manual pallet jack. And one arm aint gonna hold her in a howler or a really bad storm. Off the road you go.

And sometimes cranking trailers sunken into mud loaded needs TWO hands. YOU will be constantly calling heavy wreckers to come lift your trailer out. That's a few hundred dollars a time at least and some trailer lots are 200 miles from no where on purpose. There is one about 150 miles west of San Antonio I recall. Nothing but a field in a area that is field bigger than many states in the Union infested with Illegals trying to bypass Falfurrias Station south of San Antonio.

This is not to say you cannot do it. Chop the joint, install a new one. My da did that on a fall a few months ago. Old shoulder joint exploded. They simply installed a nice new artificial joint that is probably better than the real thing now. It's expensive. Im fixing to get a hip joint replaced if that leg does not settle down. Otherwise I will lose that leg completely. (That's fine, bolt on a replacement peg, it does not bother me that much.)

Never mind your talk about shifting. All your doing is being making things hurt more as time goes by. Get yourself a automatic. Make life easier on you. Run drop and hook loads which generally go into places with cement pads for landing gear and angle iron behind your 5th wheel to get under those things. THump. Done.

Or just chop the whole arm and shoulder and bolt on a new one. Wait a year to heal and then go for it. Aint no reason not to go. Soldiers and Marines do that all the time and then reenlist for another tour at war against our enemies.

Anything to keep you from sitting at home with a dead arm that will get into you way in everything you cannot imagine how annoying it will be. But you already know this from a dead shoulder joint and now potentially a dying nerve that controls your hand and other really important stuff on what's left of it.

Well the test say my cup is great and nerve test i did says my nerves are in good shape, just pinched bring on the hand problem. So if they let me go after 15 years. Thought get my own truck and trl. And carry on. If i can pass a dot. I just pass my dot in January

your company should not allow you to even enter their cab, you are a liability for them and I can't understand how a dot examiner would consider a waiver without a care plan for your nerve issues.

Personally, I'd like to know more. My shoulders are still good, but... I'm always on the curve to learn.

Me to.... i drive very careful and no bad record. I been driving with left hand and arm all my life.

I mean, if you had to have the auto restriction... so be it. I drove an auto MACK last winter and actually enjoyed it; felt quite well rested. Now back into a ten, but actually my left leg is more beat at the end of the day.....can't float pulling a tank. << well maybe ya can, but I don't!

Good luck to you Brother! My dad recently had shoulder surgery and his left arm will never be back to 100 percent again. Maybe like 40% at best Dr says. He gave up driving and is now teaching at a truck driving school.

The top part of my shoulder is my problem the bottom part good, that why i can shift. That what the doc says.

Personally, I didn't mind the MACK last winter at all. Was a bit different in reverse but there's always manual mode. (<< well at least was for me...)
