Holy crap, not a good day. Well, I made $ but I earned it for sure today. Had to be at a hi-way construction site at 7am. Well that section of hi-way is about 4 miles and there are 20 different jobs going on in that zone. Got there early and drove around and around trying to find the right site. Finally found it and they aren't ready not to mention there are only 2 guys working. The boss that ordered the trk didn't come in today so no one really knew what he had planned. There is this big cluster of unorganized forms and connecters and I-beams ect. So these 2 guys start loading my bed with this unorganized crap little stuff, big, stuff and I'm trying to tell them where I want stuff so I can strap it down and even my ideas sucked. So when I decided that I wouldnt be able to secure the load if they put anymore of the trash on I strapped and fought like hell to get out of the site back on the road to go 3 mile to a parts yard to unload. After about 30 minutes of waiting the forklift finally comes over and unloads me. I go back to the job site and find that 1 of the 2 guys has left for the day, now it's just me and the guy on the forklift. Now I don't mind helping and working but come on. We get that load on I strap and head back to unld. Again I sit for 30 minutes and decide to see what the hold up is. Someone took the keys out of the forklift and no on knew who had them. Found another tractor key that worked and got unlded. When I got back in the trk to go get another load the ###### a/c had quit working and it was only 103 today. I think I'm getting 4 50ft I-beams to take back and ended up with 10 and it took them forever to load them. No a/c, hot, dusty, traffic for miles and they will not let me out. 20 minutes I sit and finally get on the road. Pull in the yard and the whole #### company is there dropping off equipment so they can go home early and I can't get in. I just start bullying my way in getting inches away from their trks and 1 guy moved so I went around and blew my air horn. Waited and blew the horn again, now I'm mad. unld my frigin trailer now, quit yappin with your buddies and get to work. Unld head home with windows down, hot wind blowing in, bumper to bumper traffic but I finally made it home and phone rings. It's the boss, she asks me where I am and I say "home why?" She has a preload I need to pick up this evening for tuesday delivery. Now she knows the a/c is out, I'm tired, 10 hour day and just got home wants me to go load so when exactly is my a/c going to get fixed??? Just another fine day of flatbedding! Hope ya'll have a safe labor day weekend. Newbies, just be prepared for these kind of days because they will happen!

Sorry for your crappy day...I had a good day, we only had 1 load scheduled for today, and it was 7 pieces of 15" pipe (concrete) that only went 40 miles. But to unload I had to back alongside a convience store between the building and the pumps. No big deal once the car got out of the way. Anyway that one load protected my holiday pay, since we have to be available to work the day before and the day after.
