Filling out the paperwork seems to be the most important part

I was parked next to a flat bed loaded with 1 coil.Driver fired it up and put it in gear to leave, trucked bucked but would not move,I thought he had it in the wrong gear,so when he got out I went over to ask what gear he was trying to take off in,I saw the right front super single was flat.

You're making the assumption that the driver failed to do a pre-trip or he would have caught what is most probably a bad bearing that overheated, melting the hub and making the wheel come off. You might very well be mistaken.
About 5 years ago, I had the same thing happen to me, only thanks to another driver warning me, I caught it before the wheel came off. It still melted the hub, which had to be replaced. This was a trailer that only I pulled, and I regularly checked the oil level in it. The bearing went bad and it overheated less than 50 miles from where I started that night.
There's a saying about making assumptions. when you assume, you could easily make an ### out of u-m-e.

Simple prevention is to carry a torque wrench with 6in extension & 33mm deep socket.

Then put the green wheel check arrow indicators on the lug nuts that do the double duty of showing nut loosening & axle/brake seizure by discoloring & deforming at high temperatures both those issues cause

You would be surprised what variance in torquing the shops leave your wheels at.

Yeah, I know what they say. You're assuming I'm assuming. Welcome to the club. This accident happened less than a half mile from my house. What I saw was 1 tire and wheel laying on the side of the road. No hub, no drum. I guess those lug nuts just wore out. No need checking them! I'll continue to feel safe assuming because I see more drivers hopping in and taking off in their trucks than I see doing proper pretrips.

I have to agree with you there. It always amazes me how many so called "professional" drivers there are that just hop in the truck and roll. It only take a few minutes to check your truck, then you're sure.

I do a Pretrip every morning. It dont take very long. Check the fluids, kick the tires, check the lights as you walk around and boom your off. Takes less then 10 minutes if you do it every day.
