Since all trucking companies are aware of DAC, and so many companies screw drivers over using DAC, and everyone connected to the industry is aware of this, why do SO MANY companies use this resource in determining whether or not to hire a driver? They KNOW that most of this stuff is simply not the truth. So it makes zero sense! So tell me why?

I certainly don't know an exact answer to your question, but I can guess. What else do they have? The quesstion I have is "how much credibility" do they give the responses? Another might be do some companies have a "reputatioin" for black balling and do they take that into consieration when reading the report? I guess if you have a concern, you would be advised to ask the recruiter since they are often times the one reading the report.

Valid point! Ya know, if I were a recruiter, though, I don't think I would even look at a DAC report. It seems like a waste of time to me to have to sort through all that BS to very little REAL information.

I think alot of it has to due with a calculated risk. If you put it all into a computer risk factor will deturmine who to hire.
The funny part is untill they use up all the prospects up, more will line up to be deleated later.($4,500 to $6,000).

When you talk to a would be trucker they all just want to see the country. Sounds so romantic!!!

I'm really tired of hearing people belittle the would be truckers for wanting to see the country.

There must be some good reasons for people to drive a truck because it sure as heck isn't the money.

I have a LOT of reasons for wanting to try it. And yes, seeing the country is huge.

I spent 3 years in California. I loved seeing the mountains. I didn't need to go mountain climbing to love seeing the mountains. I miss it a lot. I felt the same way about the Ocean. I don't enjoy the Ocean up close. I don't like the salt and the water is too cold. I definitely do not like the crowded beaches, the sand getting tracked into my cars and house. BUT..

Driving up and down the interstate 5 and seeing Ocean was such a calming experience. I terribly miss the Ocean.

I drove a comercial truck for awhile. I hated hanging around the filthy mouthed drivers and getting choked by their nasty cigarrettes. I hated pre and post trip inspections. But I did the job, was polite to the drivers and I dealt with those aspects. Once I got out on the road and was driving to and from my area for the day I enjoyed getting paid to drive. I spent a lot of time sitting at an almost stand still in the California freeway rush hour traffic. I was just happy in my air conditioned truck and listening to any radio I wanted to. The solitude was fantastic.

Romantic? Maybe not. But I know what parts I love, the parts I like and the parts and people I just barely tolerate.

It's all about trade offs. Schwan's did not pay me enough to work 70 hours per week and then have to drive home at the end of the day just to be up and on the road in about 6 hours again. I'd much rather park the truck and just climb in that bunk and sleep. They really screw over their drivers in a great many ways just like some of the stories I've read here. So obviously a person has to do more research than I did before I went to Schwan's. I could have even dealt with the long days and crappy pay. But the straw that broke the camels back was when they wanted to send a supervisor with me to teach me how to strong arm my customers into buying more ice cream. I wouldn't treat my customers like that. I really don't like sales. I just want to drive. My customers trusted me and they bought what they wanted and what they could afford.

I'll NEVER work soley for commission only again and be responsible for getting all my own customers while working long crazy days. Just let me drive.
