Alpha male my ###. An alpha male wouldnt write that nonsense. An alpha male would be out working instead instead of looking for clarification on an internet forum.

Despite what it is plead down to, it probably still shows the original charge on his arrest record, if he was arrested for that OVI, OUI, whatever it is called wherever he is at. So, when any company (and most will) runs the criminal background, the arrest record and charge will likely show up. Just don't be surprised when you get a lot of "not interested" from prospective employers, other than those who may have already said they would hire you with "physical control". Even that charge sounds funny really, physical control. I would have asked to see this video the police said they had of me getting into my car, with the plate or something being visible, to prove it was me getting into it at all.
Spoiler alert: Physical control depending on your state could be almost the same as a DUI or OUI. It means that you had the means to initiate movement of the vehicle or operate it, while you were under the influence. The under the influence part is what is going to hurt you the most in your job search.Last edited: Dec 4, 2025 at 2:26 PM

"Wide angle" viewpoint:
The overall CDL world is currently "suspended"...as we all await demand & capacity to go back to something approaching near equilibrium; meanwhile -- certain CDL carriers/schools/drivers are all being disqualified....for lax standards &/or general incompetence...&/or outright fraudulent conduct.

It doesn't matter what a trucking company recruiter told you. It only matters what the company safety department decides about you, and they won't even look at you until you get to orientation.gentleroger, Trucker61016 and Stringb8n Thank this.

Sooooo....to recap....

Mostly (but not totally) becuz of modern insurance requirements: regardless of what happens at/with the BMV -- as a result of your OVI -- your CLP & any possible subsequent CDL career...for the foreseeable future....is DOA....& thus SOL.
