Forget about applying to companies online. Get off the couch and go see companies in your area. You'd be surprised how many might take a shot with a new grad. You can overcome and perceived negative with past issues by making a positive first impression and telling your story in person.
Remember to show up with a positive attitude and with a professional appearance. Looking at how some drivers dress these days, I wouldn't hire them to clean my septic, let alone drive my 200k plus truck/trailer and God knows how much in freight.
Think outside the box. Don't limit yourself to only those companies that accept online applications. It takes some effort, but since we are talking about a career, don't you feel it is worth it? -
Thanks for all the replies! I am just gonna pick up the pieces and move on. I have my CDL and I'm going to put it to work!
d o g Thanks this. -
Is this typical of all companies?
-
I would say it is pretty typical of the really large companies that consistently have dozens (if not hundreds) of "new hires" starting each week. Why do you think they need so many new people? Because all the old people are run off...........
Hence the need to stray from the norm and start to hit the bricks and introduce yourself to companies in your area...........CasinoGal Thanks this. -
I do not think you did a very good job. Last crub I hit it dented the rim a broke the tire lose. Then I got to go to truckstop and sit for 4 hours for the repair. If you gonna do something do it good!

You may have a tough time if it is reported on your DAC. Next time pay attention to what you are doing. If there was a kid or old lady standing on that curb you would be in a whole different situation right now!

Honestly prob hit one once a week some of these turns are bad and cars see u turning they don't move. Yesterday was in st Louis I was on 55 south exit 205 had to del as I was heading out a car thought it be a good place to park.. laid on my air horn car only moved an inch. Had to poop steers up on the curve to make this turn. He was sitting in middle of on ramp...

I know of a couple of round-abouts where you can not go through them without putting your tandems on the inside "island". Went through them 4 times last week. I'd like to see some of these idiot mega-fleet, so called examiners, try to negotiate them without hitting the curbs.
