Is opening just the one valve on my Volvo 780 enough to properly drain the tanks?

If I pull the wire loop in the upper left of the pic (yellow arrow), I can hear air being released on the backside. The valves on the front side of the three tanks (black circles), have some corrosion. They seem too brittle for me to try to put any pressure to turn them.

i think thise valves are replaceable.

i'd at least spray them up heavily with something like PB Blaster.

of course, you may want to have new valves on hand as well. i'd then open up the new valves, and coat the threads with something like Permatex anti-seize. just DO NOT get that stuff on you or your clothing, it'll never come off!!

    https://www.amazon.com/Permatex-80078-Anti-Seize-Lubricant-Bottle/dp/B000FW7VGE

also sold at nearly any auto parts store.

You can take a hammer and tap them open enough to bleed off then shut them. They are brass fittings and will be just fine if you tap them counterclockwise to get the started.

    passport220 Thanks this.

^ I sprayed the valves down with some W-D40 and let it penetrate for about an hour. Gently took a pair of plyers and they opened and closed with out too much drama.

Thanks for the replies! Guess I just needed some input to have confidence cranking on them a bit was the right thing to do. All is well, thanks again good buddies!

Yeah, if you just use the normal wash soap. Rub goop hand soap on it, let it sit for 30 min then toss in wash with a handful of the goop with your regular soap. It will come right out, and the goop will not hurt anything. It actually states on the container "safe for laundry". I been using this stuff in my laundry for 20 years. Once you dry it, its set, won't come out.
