I understand that LCV's need to stop... but so do the rest of us... why do they get there own police force ??

I see 4 wheelers pulling campers and boats .. I see bobtails and guy's pulling straight 53 vans taking pull through spots.

If I have to back my trains in a hole there is going to be a wait for every one behind me..

Didn't you hear...they're the OTA's pets...thus they get preferential treatment cause they're special...

Ever seen an LCV being inspected at an Ontario scale? Nope...they get special treatment

Should be first come, first park. Guess my sleep isn't as important as the lcv's. They need more parking all through the province.

Actually, what he was trying to relate in the O.P was that although there are signs and designated spots, other drivers are not recognizing them. This of course, is a problem if an LCV pulls into a tight rest area which he HAS to stop at, has no choice because it is the designated stop/rest area for the route, then the LCV driver is at a disadvantage, as other trucks can stop wherever they want to. What WILL stop other drivers from parking in these designated spots is hard enforcement on an ongoing basis. In Ontario, truckers, many of whom are either not familiar with our Canadian customs and considerate nature or are just pompous # # #-hats, need to be bich-slapped into compliance as they are too self-centered to comply willingly. It is one thing to park an LCV in the middle of 10,000 acres of nothingness, and another in one of the most densely populated regions on the planet.

Demerit points are like boy scout badges- you have to earn them. Don't get caught holding too many of them or they haul you in for an interview to find out why you need to have so much attention.

I can see some over zealous cop enforcing the LCV parking in January because you can be sure they wont take the signs down.

I feel bad for anyone going east around Mallorytown at that service center who is looking to shut down for a snooze, Im heading west every morning and that place just looks like a nightmare......There cant be any more than 25 spots in that eastbound service center. Thats the last place I'd want to be pulling in with 2 53' wagons..I wont even start talking about who parks where, from what ive seen in the last decade its every man for himself. Same day, in and out, you'll see a Transx broker with a crooked logo on his 03' century, parked crooked in a dedicated LCV spot. How are you gonna explain to someone that was driving a camel last week, that he's in an LCV spot......and its just getting worse

The difference is, LCV's HAVE to stop at their designated rest/emergency area. They do not have the option of carrying on to the next rest area. It is highly regulated and one mistake means that driver is screwed, his company can lose their LCV permit or the number of LCV drivers they can license, and he can lose his job. So stop pretending your b-train is anything like pulling 2 53's, be civil and stop acting like Billy Bigrig. Nobody is impressed.

The real problem is that there is a huge shortage of places for all us commercial slobs to sleep. Don't matter if its tandem or a LCV...

We used to be able to pull over on side roads or on-ramps and now we get told to move it along. DOT don't care why you're driving when outta hours (looking for a spot to sleep).

Lord forbid we make a few more rest areas along the hiways.

hwy 401 in ON and 40/15/20 in Quebec are too busy for 2 x 53s, i wouldn't do it; and they get paid 15 cents/mile extra but are running max 90km/h , what a deal.
