I am unaware of any 10,000 acre rest areas. What would be an example of where "hard enforcement on an ongoing basis" has been successful?

I apologize, I forgot I have to remain strictly literal when dealing with western drivers, who do not seem to understand sarcasm. 10,000 acres was of course, and exaggeration. And an example where hard enforcement works? Well just a few would be:

    1) HOS regulations
    2) Drug screening
    3) Drunk driving laws
    4) Restricted truck routes

Etc., etc., so on and so forth. Hope this clears my post up for you.

Yes it sure does, So when after hard enforcement working as well as it does in those 4 areas (as well as the etc. etc. so on and so forth areas i guess). And you pull into the rest area and a truck is still parked in your LCV spot, what then? May be Johnny DOT can literally ride along with you so he can actually hold your hand, as this is clearly what you need.

Hope you find a parking spot.

Flog on the prick's door with a mallet until he moves. And its MTO here, not DOT. That would be the US, wouldn't it? Oh wait, you are Texas north, I forgot.

Sorry the DOT thing confused you.

The hammer thing sounds good, just make sure you apply for the proper permit and only use it in designated areas.

If all the regular spots are full, why should lcv spots sit empty? these service centres are a joke, not near enough truck spots and way too many car spots, maybe LCVS shoudn't be allowed if we have to save special spots just for them, don't run them would be a solution

I could not agree more and I make my living pulling LCV.

As for the thought on no LCV at all, that is a conversation to have with the guys that did not want the Wheel, Internet and Sliced bread.

When you can get someone convinced that it's a good idea to do twice the work for 1/2 the pay, it's a good thing, amIright? Or maybe you're one of the few that turns large revenue pulling LCV's? Admittedly, I know less than nothing 1st hand when it comes to them, just the scuttlebutt as to what guys are being paid. Talked to an SLH driver in New Brunswick that told me they got eight cents a mile more to pull 'em and the extra hour to drop and hook, but if the weather turns crappy they gotta hit the shoulder till it clears. Don't seem worth it to me.

Here is what I think, Lcv's are here to stay. That said if the company driver guys think it is worth it to pull them for whatever there company pays them extra, then have at it. If not don't do it. My situation is very different then most as I am an independent with my own LCV permits. I book my own freight, sometimes it is another company's trailers, some time it is mine and some time one of each. It allows me to double my revenue in a lot of situations. Now if that makes me a job stealing son of a gun, then so be it.
As for parking, I have never thought that I needed special parking spots, mind you I only run AB,SK, and MB.
