When is OOIDA gonna actually fight for real issues instead of things that will only be temporary fixes. ELogs and Speed Limiters will happen eventually weather we like them or not. The fight might slow down the train wreck but it won't stop it. How about bigger issues like most of these food places and mega warehouses making drivers sit for hours on end with no repercussions. I lost another back haul that was a hour away for a place that wouldn't touch my truck for 4 hours to unload it even though I was checked in 2 hours before my appointment. That's 6 hours minimum of my day I've been wide awake and now expected to drive 11 at some point. My clock hasn't started since I was lucky enough to be on location . I probably won't see detention if the broker doesn't want to pay it since I'm a company driver. Even though when detention does come in it all goes to us it is very rare when it does. The broker and company fills their pockets , I haven't even started making a dime . I think a easy cure would be time stamps on all bills and recordings of times subject to audits . their are a few places that do time stamps now. What repercussions could be in place? Higher tax for these places? Hourly fines? What would even be a fair time limit. Most places start paying detention after 2 hours . point being places like the OOIDA need to fight issues that hurt drivers. ELogs really is not so bad in itself if most of these places got their heads out of their rears. I've been bit in the butt myself . drive a hour to loose a whole clock day waiting on a load. That's not the fault of ELogs of the speed of my truck

Why do you come here to complain ?
You should be complaining to your company OOIDA its self FMCSA heck why not wright your congress man .

Start complaining where you can bring about change .Not on some board where all you will hear is your right someone needs to do something about that .

I am always sending emails to my elected officials . Does it do any good ??? I don't know but I do one thing they know how I feel about the issues and how they are doing their jobs in my eyes !!

More people need to take control over their lives and stop waiting for someone else to do something .

Ok off my soap box and that's all I got to say about that .

Plus just because your a company driver and the speed limiters and Elogs won't affect you much don't mean that its not important to fight for some of us.
Detention is between you and your company and your company and the broker/customer.
Find yourself a company that's pays you either way. I know back when I was at a company I told them more than once either pay starts now or I bring back the truck empty/with whatever was on it they always paid and most time within 10 min of my call I was getting unloaded. That was 8 years ago.

...and the 2 hours time you were there before your appointment...well, that's ALL on you, sorry. The 4 afterward sucks, but the 2 prior isn't their fault or problem.

If my driver would give me any kind of ultimatum, I would have him bring the truck to yard, wish luck and say goodbye, just like I do with my women

I have found the ultimatum works if used correctly. Sometimes companies just ask too much. I think what makes it effective, is to not be bluffing. I used it about 3 years ago. Had a delivery to a plant and when I started pumping they had a leak on their end. Not my fault at all. Turns out the o-ring wasn't installed and they couldn't get one in till Monday. Well it was Friday morning, I am in the middle of Iowa and my company wants me to sit till Monday with basic layover which was 65 a day. I told them I either needed more or I was going to quit.

I wasn't trying to be mean, I wasn't asking too much but I was serious. I literally can't afford to get paid so little for that long, it was simple math to me. I was trying to give them a chance to keep me as a driver. It worked, they offered 165 a day to sit and I appreciated that and it made me appreciate them as well.

I hear what you are saying, a ridiculous ultimatum is one thing but ultimatums are how we drivers live.

'Put that camera in my truck and I'll. ..'
'If you don't get me a truck that runs I'll. .'

    Well, you get the idea.

And if got to a point I gave you the ultimatum I would bring it back with a smile on my face. LOL it takes a bunch to push that far.
Plus from your posts you treat drivers fair so I doubt it would get that far.
