Well I started out from Des Moines, Iowa headed to Lewiston for training, and it is free, but it is still taking the BUS for almost 2 solid days. Its the company with a dog on the side?? I tell you what, ever feel like you have it bad, just get on a bus, and take a 3+ hour drive....you will feel much better about yourself. hahahah
If you have the chance to drive yourself, or take a plane....DO IT....save yourself the agony of riding a bus. The one i currently am on is not bad at all...best one of the 3 i've been on. Layovers dont exist....its get off one bus and get right on the next. But they boarded us an hour late out of KC to denver, THEN they didnt want to hold any busses out of denver. If i missed my Salt Lake City bus, i would have been stuck in Denver for 12 hours.....that wasnt going to happen......anyways, if you are forced to take the bus to go to a training school to get your CDL.....do yourself a favor....drive yourself. Now they only will repay you the price of a bus ticket, and you end up eating the cost of whats left over....but believe me.....IT IS WORTH IT. They will want to bus me to KC or Minniapolis or Gary indiana....but trust me...ill be driving myself.
Ooooohh...i HATE taking the bus....

I think everyone hates riding the grey dog

I had to come home from Colorado on the dog when I drug up off the job there when I was 21, it was the greatest road trip ever!!!!
We had a short lay over in Ogallala Neb, a bunch off us went to a pub down the street for "shots" and went back with a couple bottles to smuggle on the bus, and proceeded to have a great trip.
When we got to Omaha we had like a two hour layover, so we went out and closed down the bars, and missed the bus, they actually let us on the next one and I slept all the way to Des Moines, switched buses and slept the rest off the way to Mlps, I met some very interesting folks on that trip. A kind from Chicago had a guitar and I had a harmonica, I'm guessing we probably made the trip rough for some of the folks....... Great memories..
I hope the rest of your trip goes well.... -
That's the part I'm not looking forward too. If I go with TMC, I'm pretty sure they'll fly me out, but if it's a bus thing, I'll probably just have the wife drive me out. She enjoys a good road trip too!

Just count yourself lucky that you aren't sitting next to the wrong weirdo, like that poor guy in Canada.

Well i will tell you, on the leg from Denver to Salt Lake City, that ride was PERFECT. No problems, except a couple cryin' infants, but what are you going to do. Slept well, didnt have anybody sitting next to me this time, so i was able to spread out....literally.
Oh, and one thing, on your carry on...always pack two change of clothes, and all your toiletries....i am sure this is common knowledge, but hey, keeps you from stinking after not having a shower for a day or two. -
Snowman;
Go flatbed and run out of the Gary terminal. You will never sit. The DM's and the fleet manager there are awesome. -
It doesnt take that long on that can of stinky people to realize that the country is full of all kinds. I will drive or fly before I will ride a bus anywhere, cant handle the B/O from other people that havent showered in two days.

well i was talking with someone, and seeing how they will reinburse you for a plane ticket up to the price of a bus ticket. my ticket cost $217. if i can find a one way for $300, i just have to come up with the $83 difference. and trust me...it will be well worth the $90 to avoid 2 days of bus riding, and pricks at the bus terminals.
