Broke down truck on the shoulder of EB I80 in Illinois, just east of 55, around 5pm today. Sorry, 1700.
Flashing lights in front of it. A cop walking back from placing flares behind the rig.
The cab disconnected from the trailer and pulled forward 30 feet.
So what was wrong?
Disconnected so no flashers on the trailer.
Parked long enough to disconnect and did not set out triangles or flares beforehand!!!
I sure hope, and am pretty sure, a ticket was swiftly headed in the drivers direction. But then again, maybe not until all paperwork and a truck inspection was performed.

Maybe he thought he was at the drop yard...? 😂😂😂😩

Maybe that was the driver that came to pick up the load when the other driver that broke down was dragged away on the hook......who knows.

MikeeeeHauntedSchizo19 Thanks this. -
Maybe, the cop was the reason the truck was stopped. And the cop was just helping put out the triangles. A cop working solo always has to be the bad cop and this could have been his only time to play good cop.
Example, Cop notices trailer brake is smoking. Pulls over victim driver. Tells victim the trailer has to be repair where it is. Driver wants to go to next exit. Cop says okay, I will help you put out your triangles. He does so while the trucker disconnects. While this is highly unlikely, it could explain what you saw. -

Nah I see it on a weekly doing ltl I got a lot of crazy places. And I see a lot of disconnected trailers and like 100 feet away the tractor right next to the highways. Especially these Hindus out here in Cali... No brains

If you are 100 feet in front of the trailer you are less likely to get smashed when someone smashes the trailer. -
