Weeellllll.... I sometimes have a couple beers in my truck. The difference is that its parked on private property, the beers are coming from my coworkers, and I'm starting my 10hr or 34hr break and I live in the #### thing, so where else am I supposed to finish the beer after the payday party is over?

Considering alcohol is absolutely forbidden in a commercial motor vehicle in the US, in a CLOSED container, that's some really bad stuff heading your way.

I was a mover/lumper for a year and a otr mover for 6 months not all lumpers r bad but they do start talking about money right off the bat and after the job is done try to ask for more. I will say moving is one of the most physically demanding jobs EVER and id lik to see some of these high and mighty, yet sober, dock bumpers try and load or lump 17k in hhg. I'll bet in OP's situation, he is a local guy and the lumpers r ppl he works with every day

having booze in the truck is transporting alcohol without a permit. was told by a Tenn.DOT when I asked what the cardboard box ,on the ground by his van, full of odd cans of beer was. they look in the coolers and confiscate it. this was yrs ago ,late '80's,and I was being written up for a bad tire

If you get stopped, especially by a motor carrier, you can pretty much consider your CDL career over.
The decision on how to proceed in this matter is a no-brainer, for anyone with half a brain. -
