Even then it's not really secure.
Chances are i'll refuse it. I have hauled stone on open flatbed that have been secured by chain permanently bolted to the stones and welded for road trip purpses. The actual rattle if any from back there tells the tester that the trainee is not going smoothly in that load.
One strap as it appears in that picture aint gonna do a #### thing. That rock will hop out and kill someone or several if at all possible as it apparently did.
Im sorry but I think the charges are appropriate here.
I also think that is not the correct truck for that work. There is equiptment you can get for short term rental that has a deep V where loads like that or coil can really settle into bed so to speak and get secured.
The other alternative would be a dump bed with a throw away scoop or three of highway gravel until it's buried somewhat halfway deep. Getting it out would be a little bit of shovel work and maybe some crane rigging after the thump onto the ground. And some cleanup.
Ive hauled concrete chunks bigger than that loose in the dump bed. It's not fun. But it can be done, especially when it's going back to the plant that intends to crush it and grind it into a reusable materal to make more product. -
