I had open heart surgery 4.5 years ago to correct what was called a congenital defect in my mytral valve. All seems well now. I was told my veins and arteries were all clear. Will I need to disclose this? Will it serve to disqualify me from a CDL-A?

As long as you can pass the CDL physical, I don't see a problem.

YOU don't have to tell anything about your medical history if you don't want to.

The DOT Long form requires health history. One of the questions specifically asked about heart surgery.

As far as being able to pass the physical, alot of drivers have to have their cardiologist complete the physical since some of the DOT physicians are not comfortable with that area.
