I ran through a blitz a few years back, and got pulled into every scale I passed. Wound up a day and a half late on my delivery (without service failure, thank god), thanks to various state DOTs. Yeah, I'll sit out the blitz this year.

Have you read CSA2010? Reason I ask is it doesn't change the criteria for inspections or out of service items, it only changes how carriers and their drivers are graded.

I use the hand valve to check my trailer brakes, and put my flashlight in-between the steering column and the brake pedal to check the tractor brakes. This does require getting under the truck twice, but it's worth it to get an accurate measurement, just like they do at the scales.

Just wondering, do you have prepass and got a red light at em all or just do it the old fashioned way?

You know, its funny, I almost never go through scales anymore....not because of prepass either. Just seems like the ones i frequent are never open when i frequent them..lol...

I hardly ever scale loads either. I mostly run a few main routes and know where the scales are, and usually if i get a 40,000+ load im not pulling it very far...hah. my long loads are usually light.. :D

But i pretty much only run ohio, penna, indiana, michigan, illinois, and ontario lately....

I guarantee it'll be different for the blitz, hah.

I wonder if werner is getting a lot of hometime requests for those dates. I bet most werner drivers dont know about it.

I'm keeping my mouth SHUT to them. I don't know if my dispatcher knows about it but i didnt tell him why im going home that date. Hahaha.

Were they too busy to put the sticker on the windshield? Geez! Hubby asks for one if he passes, then he knows that he's all clear for the rest of the blitz.

Must be nice to be able to be confident in your equipment. If I didn't know how to swim i wouldn't be able to drive this truck in the rain. A good portion of our trailers have the wrong size or shape landing gear handle, which is not safe because it will not latch onto the shaft for good torque throughput and it will not stow away without help. I routinely drive with it just floppin around.

If i get a decent paycheck this week, next week'll be my last week here anyway.

But come on. You're telling us you NEVER GO HOME?

I was going home the week after next week anyway. But its a pain in the butt to stay out 4 weeks and come home for a week and get a zero paycheck....especially after not seeing a paycheck worth turning the key for for two months.....and i wanted to come home this week anyway, and i need weekdays off so i can take care of some business at the DMV
    (motorcycle license!)

So it just worked out oh so conveniently...

Yeah, I go home. What I'm saying is I don't alter my schedule to keep from possibly getting inspected. As a truck driver, you can get inspected anywhere, anytime, from any agency, right? There are way more trucks than inspectors. It's not a perfect world out there and I'll be the first to say how unfair it is for the trucking industry. Knowing your equipment and the law IS part of truck driving. But so many drivers just want to drive and can't be bothered with whatever else comes into play throughout a typical day. It's been that way for a hundred years in this industry. If you want to take home time next week, then go for it. You do what is right for you. It's still a free country, right?

Shock the heck out of it that will do the trick. Don't think bleach would be a good idea...lol. You'd never be able to get in it this summer.
