dont like the mirrors on cascadia they are about four inches shorter than the mirrors on my 2007 prostar. they also get crapped up very quickly in rain or snow because of the design. in freightliners defense, they will sell you a retrofit air dam that attaches to the inside edge of the mirrors. the air dam kind of works(sometimes) also, the spot mirrors on the front fenders are basically useless. the mirrors on my prostar stay dry in rain or snow (as long as your moving) even if your not moving they stay fairly clean.now to the bad stuff. my prostar is usually in the shoponce a month(i have 525000 miles on it). ive had the truck for about 1.5 years. new air tanks new tank straps new radiator new turbo and vgt. the exhaust gas regen was at the factory shop 4 times in 2 months before they got it right(truck out of service 1.5 weeks per visit) thank god im not an owner operater, id be out of business.also my cab air shocks are shot.new shocks on order at about 700$ apiece(air bags are inside of shock)aside from the above problems, i still like the prostar better. supposed to be getting 2013 cascadia in the spring. dont want it

I won't ever own a isx. I know so many that has random problems.

prostar hands down for creature comfort and a darn fine looking truck. Cummins I cant comment on as Ive never had anything other than a detroit 60 and dd15. But after driving cascadias and prostars everday flipping back and forth daily, Ill gladly take the prostar over a cascadia. Way more comfort and logic put into it compared to a freightshaker, the controls have a lot better layout with a lot shorter reach for everything.

In your situation, I would highly look at a Brand New fleet Spec Cascadia with a DD15 engine. I've seen them around $115k..... sure it's not fully loaded or have tons of gauges, but the internals and drivetrain is still the same as the loaded-up ones and they are usually spec'd to get the best MPG's. Just my .02The Challenger Thanks this. -
Another question! While Im still looking for a 10 cascadia and the prices are around 70k-79k for a low mileage ( 400k..ish ) ; Do century's and Columbia's with S60 08/09 also come with DPF system?
-
EGR with only DPF is EPA07 which started in '07.
EGR with DEF and DPF is EPA10.
The reason those EPA10's are better then then EPA07 is that you use less EGR because off the DEF used.
They also have less regens. -
I have drove both otr and then some. They both ride harsh, maybe better in the prostar if it is a prem. With upgraded seats. They rest of the threads are correct-- stay away form 09 in both, just a real bad year. Get a volvo or kw. As far as the cascadia goes, dont idle the motor- trust me it will have more problems then you can fix, not designed to idle per mechanic, the dpf system sucks. That d60 is pretty much as good as it gets but than again the isx is pretty darn good too. The cascadia has lots of room and turns better than the prostar, prostar - falls apart as it ages very little, yest nice little cubby holes for storage, but you wont use them to much while in the motel during breakdown. Gosh, yeah, fix the ol girl up but i understand why due to the cally laws comming soon. Stay away from both in that year08-09

If you can afford an 08-09 then you can afford a 2011-2012. Please dont buy the 09 they are junk.
