The business in question in TN is located at exit 311 on I-40. And their equipment is top notch. I have deliverd parts to them when I was a freight hauler. Momma and I even looked at one of those shiny Coronado's complete with a Det Diesel Remanned 60 Series, 13 speed tranny, and 355 rears already installed for under $100K! It was nice...but, we want a bigger sleeper.....Maybe I'll see if he can order a T-660 with an 84" mid-roof Studio....Detroit 60 Series, 13 auto-shift(Fuel mileage) and 3.42's in the rears.......Air ride all around.....08' with a non-egr....Hmmmmm that sounds REAL good!!!
Oh...If you're going East....get off, hang a right...then an immediate left and you'll run right down to it.....they just paved a LARGE portion of their lot.....so, they must plan on being around for a while.....and when we went by there the other day.....they had about 100 trucks sitting in there, ready to go!FitzgeraldTruckSales Thanks this. -
I don't think KW makes gliders
-
Who else is doing glider's other than w/star?
-
Fitzgerald's had a thread here, they keep large car Petes and FL Coronados on hand, and they can get Western Star.
A guy from near here bought a Coronado with a N-14 and 13 speed last fall, it came from TN, I'm pretty sure from there.
I don't know about the availability in the future, engines may have to meet current emissions, that would put a damper on anything in this line. -
i know a guy that has a small fleet of about 30 dump trailers all of the tractors are classics and almost all are gliders $30,000 less than a completly new truck do the math the only way to go

My pete is a glider as well Its an 06 with an 01 engine i.e. C12 it is entirely peterbilt and was built after original truck was rolled engine and trans where overhauled when installed
as far as parts go I have the vin from the truck used to build this one or at least a mate this truck came off a 50 truck fuel tanker fleet all peterbilts and this truck was put together by the peterbilt dealer
I really like it and insurance was not an issue I say the final builder is the one most responsible for qualityBig Duker Thanks this. -
KW doesn't, Pete does which is wierd since their both PACCAR, Freighliner and Western Star also do.
I asked if to see if you could get everything from the factory except the engine and was told you couldn't get a transmission or engine but everything else is new. Not really a Pete fan but definitely an interesting option. It was never cost effective before because after you added the labor and taxes you didn't save much unless you had a REALLY new totaled truck. But with the new boat anchor motors that's changing. Wonder how long before the EPA stops glider sales. -
good question?

I have 88 Pete 379 with Cummins Recon BC4 400 and was wanting to do a glider kit but they said that I was out of luck due to mine being a mechanical (non computerrized) engine because they do not have that option any more. That is the pitts for sure guess I will keep this one as long as I can hold her together .Big Brother is coming for sure .
