I won't really do the explanation justice. But... Something like transport Canada questioning the validity of gliders because the definition of a motor vehicle is that it shows up capable of moving under it's own power, and gliders don't. The provincial guys are not having any problems but if you want PRP plates to cross borders than the problems are possible.

Local KW say's they aren't even selling any at the moment because another dealer got stuck with inventory they couldn't register .

If you buy a glider, for use in Canada the engine must match the year of registration.

You want to look at the emissions tag, for the fuel needed to make the advertised HP. It is rated in MM3 of fuel the bigger the number, designates poor fuel milage.
I realise, some want to spend big dollars to look cool, when you retire broke, no one will care, you want to make money.

Great info fellas, thank you very much. It looks like I have a lot more research to do, and I'll have to go to some dealers and talk to some people. Unless I am misunderstanding something, but what is the point of buying a new glider and needing to put an engine in it to match the year of registration if the idea of a glider is new truck, but with the benefits of an older motor?

?? Can you provide some info or a link to that ?
That would completely defeat the function of a glider.

I worked at dealerships truck and engine. I have done lots of repowers, and was never alowed to put in older engine. You can talk to a CVSE inspector or a truck dealer, that has done gliders, I worked at a truck dealership, and only did 2 both were in a wreck and the glider came as a cab and chassis, the complete running gear was reinstalled, both got uprated radiators.
You may try to Google canadian truck glider ruler and regulations.
    Just a thought!
