I hauled a load of sticks out of the Prince George area last winter. At least they didn't want a full tridem loaded, tarped. The lifts all had tarp covers on them. I had to get two lifts moved once I got to Edmonton and scaled it at the J. That load going to Winnipeg paid peanuts compared to what it should have for that weight and TL.

My 2 cents on trailers. I have had a Mac for about a year and its far above all the rest if your going to haul heavy dense loads like coils, or like what I do mill rolls, but its heavy. I have a Fontaine Phantom as well. Its done fairly well for the abuse its seen. I had it 5 years its been rearched once and had to have the suspension cross members replaced. But it has had a very rough life and its still going. If I were to go otr I would not be against a Phantom. Its light and pulls great. -
Is the Phantom the one with the honeycomb style crossmembers/floor?
-
No its standard construction except it has the very wide flange on the bottom of the main beam. The Phantom X is what I have it adds a v shaped cross member the entire height of the beam. Its rated for 70,000 in 2ft yes 2ft. But if you do that on all the time it will get tired after about 3 years.

Ever see the ones B&T are running, they look awful with a coil on it... -
I've had 73000 on mine the biggest problem I had with that roll was the suspension was not up to the task (only 25k axles). Even the road crown made the trailer lean. It did not have a belly in it though. I never did make it sag. It would go flat and stop. Before I had it arched it would only take about 45000 to make it go flat. Now it takes about 55000 to flatten it out. When it was new 65000 is what it took. It does not get the big rolls any more now that I have a Mac

Not Union Electric for sure, I dont think any do. But once you get into the 80+ and for sure the 100+ i dont think you would want that on a flat. I am guessing its what the trucking co. has available to them.
