I haven't been in this business long but I've had some unforseen circumstances come up where I have to provide for two households now. With that being said I found some good deals on some trucks and even some straight trucks. I'm thinking of doing the whole O/O thing. I have a few questions and help is greatly appreciated!
I have been thinking of doing power only and contracting out to a big company like Mercer or Landstar, etc. I've also been thinking about straight trucks and sprinters but I do know I don't want my own authority simply for the fact that I don't think I'm experienced enough to handle all that quite yet. So I would definitely want to work for someone as a contractor.
But my main questions are what's the pros and cons...of
Power only
Expedited
Sprinters
Those are the main three I've been looking into. But I've also been looking at duallys for some hot shot work.
Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You've got 2 households to provide for the last thing on earth I would do is buy a truck.
Ruthless, diesel drinker, Roberts450 and 5 others Thank this. -
That's the problem, the company I'm working for can literally only cover my bills. That's the problem. And I don't work for a horrible company either. It's not great pay but it's average if not a little above.

I would find another company to work for.
Buying a truck is going to bring a whole lot more expenses and responsibility... Sounds like you've got a lot going on and need guaranteed income...
What happens when the truck is in the shop for a week or two?Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
How much experience do you have? How much money do you saved up after you buy a truck?
You are risking too much.

I would shop around for a better company before I would consider buying my own truck.

Don't overlook the obvious things like cutting expenses as well. If your ex is living in a mansion sell it, get her cheaper housing and mention that she can work to, why should you work to support two households while she sits on the couch all day.

Honestly you won’t do much better with your own truck. Not starting off anyway. It takes some time and luck to get profitable with a truck.

1 truck wont support 2 houses any better than 1 job will .
Just because you buy a truck it doesn't start pouring out money .
The thing it does do is start sucking in money !!
It will be about a month from purchase to first paycheck .
That's if it all goes well .
For 1 check to cover 2 houses both house have to cut out all of the fat .
Just food and roof over your head .
You might even need to share bedrooms and all live in the same house .
Neither house will be living the lifestyle that they are accustomed to that is for sure .
Good luck and I hope you all make it out the other side ok .
