Morning! i'm trying to get some info on ordering a NEW truck.
I'm wanting to have a truck built im aware im looking at a year or so for delivery. My question is though how much of a down payment would i have to give the day i tell them to order it? For example would 50,000 be held up for a full year while i wait on them to delivery? When would i end up paying for the truck would it be when i could drive it off the lot?

Usually a couple grand will hold your spot. You pay when you take delivery.

I've only done it once back in 2018 ... no deposit required.

I had to put a $5000 deposit down on my Volvo and that was almost a year ago. Still waiting for the truck.

    Wow...!
I was also calling around at that time and thinking about doing the same thing...they kept telling me that October - November 2021.
What do they tell you about the delay?

    Siinman Thanks this.

You mean 2022 or 2023? Thank the parts shortage and high demand for trucks. If you want one now you’re going to be paying an arm and a leg. Better off waiting.

I mean, about a year ago, I was calling different Volvo dealerships and most of them were firm that the arrival would be in 6-8 months from the time of placing an order - sometime in the 4th quarter of 2021.
I am not sure what they are saying now.

    OLDSKOOLERnWV and Ffx95 Thank this.

The situation changed in terms of the deposit amount. A year ago most Volvo dealers required $1500-2500 to put your name on the order. Last time I called - I think in November or December - they were asking $10 000 - at least here at M&K in Chicago area and still were not exactly sure when other than 4th QTR of 2022. And their asking price went from 155K - 160 K to 180K...
$10 000 is a serious amount just to be put down on a list and then told that you gotta wait a few months more...however, it sure limits enthusiasm of some would be buyers. I would not have a problem to give them 10 grand If I could see the truck in weeks, not in years. lol

Well mine was suppose to be built in Nov 21 and then got pushed back mainly from the strike and covid. The strike lasted about 2-3 months if I remember right. So I then was given a new build date for Jan I think if I remember right. Moved to feb 7 this last time and then went to feb 21 this time. Even if it gets built it may end up setting waiting for parts. A truck in front of mine had that happen and has been waiting on p[arts for 3 weeks now. Kind of a poop show.

    TallJoe and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this.
