Last week I noticed my truck fuel mileage took a dive and so did my engine power, the power not as much but the gallons I purchased to fill the tanks did shocked me at the pump! Fuel and air filters were replaced not long ago at the maintenance interval, matter of fact it was done this month so I was like...WTF!
So this morning I grabbed my spray bottle filled it with soap and water to check my CAC and Booya!

I have used Love's address before to have Fuel/Credit cards sent to me before, no problema! But I was wondering if anyone ever used a truckstop address to have a large part delivered to you.
My plan is to order the CAC along with a new BW 171702 and wait till UPS/Fedex shows up to the Parts receiving in the back of TA where I am sitting now.

Thanks for sharing your experience and/or advice.

The fuel filter O-rings can easily get pinched on installation if they don't get enough grease. Is that when the problem started?

I'm guessing you are talking about a Cascadia....

Edit: They don't tighten down the CAC fittings very tight, just enough to put it in "spec".

No, I created my account when I had that POS truck Lol, this is about a 99 Classic Shaker,
and no, the filters are fine, the video link I shared clearly shows Air Cooler is leaking.

####, that is a filthy CAC... You need to clean them out now and then. As far as having the part delivered to the truck stop, sure, I have done it and so have friends of mine.

One thing though, make sure you install an OEM CAC, do not go aftermarket. You may be asking for more trouble than you think. Been there, and done that with a radiator. The CAC and the programing on your motor are related, you throw something on there with different flow values... It's your motor and turbo.

If on a 99, an aftermarket CAC may not be an issue... Just saw that, thought this was a Cascadia. ;-)

DON'T get a oem cac, they can leak up to 7 psi out of the box and the dealers say it's ok also only come with a 1 year warranty
get a durlite they guarantee ZERO leak for 800,000 miles

btw durlite is offered as a oem replacement part by the dealers just don't get it from the dealer they will over charge. the volvo dealer wanted just over $1,800 for a durlite.(wait a week) I ordered mine from a shop in WI and with 2 day rush shipping it was $1,200

7 psi and what? CAC's on these new trucks, which the op does not own, are designed for certain flow rates. You cannot just throw any old aftermarket CAC on a newer truck. Call the after market manufacturer, they cannot tell you what the flow rates and specs are when it comes to the actual numbers the truck ECM requires. But hey, its your truck. Been there and done that. Experience says different

I'm now checking online (Ebay) and haven't decided yet, I was gonna wait till tomorrow to check price with Freightliner hoping to be around $800.00 but now that you mentioned they leak right out of the box...
Where did you get yours at?

    Thanks

They don't leak out of the box. If they do, take it back, as there is a manufacturing defect.

by oem standers for warranty it is NOT LEAKING until it goes over (depending on manufacture) 5-7 psi in 15 sec.... go ahead and check you'll find it's true....

guess you DIDN'T READ the part about it being a direct replacement part you can order FROM THE DEALER or maybe you don't understand that a durlite cac CAN BE ordered on a NEW truck when you buy it, and by the way all the info used by the ecm is based on the cac working at 100% efficiency, if it's leaking say 3 psi in 15 sec. the dealer will say it's good BUT it is making your turbo work harder to make up for the leak. but hay you know everything doesn't matter the facts show your wrong

I have received parts at truckstops before. I just told them to deliver to the truckstop and put Attn (MYNAME) on them. Then I would tell the truckstop personnel to be watching for them. Never had a problem.
