You won't get a ticket or a fine, but Oregon ALWAYS knows when you blow off a scale. A company I use to work for always got the red light and pulled into all of the Oregon scales. One day as I got an inspection, I asked the ODOT officer what's up with the company I worked for. He told me a couple of the drivers in our company routinely bypass the scales, so they flag all of us because of that. They keep an electronic record of the truck ID on the prepass transponder and know the company and trucks that intentionally bypass the scales. I passed that info onto my boss and they looked into it. Turns out one driver frequently missed the scales and fudged his elogs. They fired him.
Now on my own truck as an O/O, I got a level 3 last November and haven't had a red light on an Oregon scale since then. I'm due for another inspection, so expecting my green light streak to end soon.

Excellent reply thank you. I looked into it a little further and saw that there is a $427 fine attached to the bypass. If the driver does not receive the fine who does?
-
Most likely the registered owner of the pre-pass transducer or the truck. With the photo bypass system, it's a pretty simple matter of capturing the front plate or DOT number on the side of the truck. If you don't pay the fine, they can revoke your mileage tax account, which means they'll lock you down OOS if you get caught.

Since it’s my company who owns the truck and transponder, can they pawn the fine and ticket off on to me as the driver? This is interesting because my company guidelines state that red light tickets are driver responsibility but scale tickets such as over weight or over axle length are paid by the company as long as you inform them prior that you’re overweight and cannot be reworked in time. I’m not sure how this would be categorized

Be careful if you try that at the scale on I-40 before Memphis. About 20 years ago, the ramp was full, I passed and that guy had me pulled over within a minute. That's why they park the car right in front of the scale, so they can jump in it real quick and do a takedown. He didn't buy my excuse the ramp was full. Cost of ticket:$366. It should be noted that this particular scale did not have a sign that said bypass when ramp full. I just thought it was a general rule.86scotty Thanks this.

Man I would’ve documented everything and fought that ticket to the bone. As a driver, my first responsibility is SAFETY, not to be a boot licker. Sorry, stopping out on the freeway lane because the offramp to the scale house is full is not safe. Are these the same highway patrol who ticket us for parking on the ramps? Well sitting ### end out in the interstate is not safe for anyone

I missed a weigh station in OR a few months ago. Nothing happened. No mail.
Flat Earth Trucker and Soundx3Soljah Thank this. -
Good. Nice to see they got rid of the screwup.
It’s infuriating to have to be subject to extra attention because you have stupid coworkers. Most of mine don’t understand that.nredfor88, Flat Earth Trucker, PE_T and 2 others Thank this. -
My Prepass NEVER works in Oregon! Its frustrating...I was hauling only 4 pallets and still pulled into the scales.
Oregon is petty and ridiculous....by the way...check this out....I was in New Mexico coming up on the Scales in Lordsburg and I got a red light on my Prepass but the scale sign said closed in Red....talk about confusing a driver...LMAO..
The only time I ever accidentally passed up a scale in Oregon was at the "Farewell Bend Port of Entry" by the T/A on the 84 north of Ontario Oregon....you have to actually exit the freeway like your going to the T/A.
Anyways I went on Google maps and got their number and called them. Let them know if they wanted me to tern around.
They said no and asked for my company name and DOT number so they can take me off the ticket list.
The scale guardian said it was a good thing that I called because I would have been ticketed at the next scale housenredfor88 and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
I believe that Oregon does not green light on closed scale like some states do. Are you sure scale house was open? I'm guessing it was closed.
