i will attempt to post about oreintation at trans am rockwall,tx.first let me say if you afford to fly please do so.the bus is not the answer.one of my fellow future co-worker rode the bus from boston mass.some 4 days on the bus so i was told.i was fortunate and blessed to fly...try souththwest airlines i flew for 85 dollars from little rock to dallas( love feild).it was well worth it.my wife drove me to little rock.
day 1 - we were picked up at the hotel # 6 a.m by a gentleman who pretended he didnt take no mess.that early in the morning 13 of us had an attitude already,so i didnt matter about his.once arriving at the terminal we filled out some preliminary paperwork and put our name tags on.off we went to do the physical and urine test and eye test.u might want to bring your valid class a drivers license and your current medical card is no good.this took about 2 hrs...for 13 people.so far this company seems to be o.k. they dont get the thumbs up just yet.i met a man who has been here since last sunday waiting on his trainer, with no money or any means to get to the store.he was told he couldnt get his orientation money till he was actually in a truck.( sad ).his original trainer had a family emergency and went home so they got him another but he was dispacted to michigan and suppose to arrive friday.i did notice some nice kenworth trucks mostly 06-08..we filled at so much paperwork i cant begin to tell you what it was.lunch was provided ha ....the guy ordered 7 pizzas....i will finish this post after day 2

Hang in there Durrty. Get your rest, pay attention and have patience. I was one of those guys who rode the bus, and you're right, It's no fun. Oddly enough though, it's actually not unlike the very career you're entering
. I just don't know what to say about those who show up for training penniless. It doesn't really reflect well on their prospects for success, but wish them well just the same. A bit of an underdog myself maybe...
Keep ur chin up and keep us posted. I'm always interested in the life experiences of others in the industry. Stay frosty, and good luck! -
had to meet the bus at 0645 a.m. we waited for a guy 15 mins.who never showed up,wouldnt come out his hotel room.he was dismissed immediately.my guess his urine was durty.had to take a road test to see if we could handle the truck.we had 3 trucks 4 in each truck.we each drove about 7 mins...per person.automatics are nice riding machines.we had a kw660 05 nice truck.after eating lunch quiznos we began to log on to the computer to see who our trainers were going to me.some guys are leaving tommorow evenning and others will be here at the hotel till sunday.me im hoping to leave out saturday but friday will be o.k. too.another guy who rode the bus 4 days from boston was told today that his drivers license would be revoked but he finished the day with us anyway.here i sit in my hotel room watching the football game and heard a loud boom sounded like a bomb going off.i looked out the window and saw a tanker on fire he rear ended a 4 wheeler and the flames were about 100 feet in the air.it burned for about 5 mins..till the fire department arrived.dont know if any one was killed but traffic is snarled to this moment.a totally boring day the employee handbook was passed out and we went over it till 1700 hrs.i hate to be given a book and be read to like a kid ,but thats how they do it.this copany still seems like its o.k. but no thumbs up yet.i will post day 3 tommorrow and henceforth since i do have my laptop and sprint card with me.check out is at 6.a.m. friday if your trainer is not here u will have to check back into the hotel and wait for him.
AfterShock Thanks this. -
Good one... get your rest and let us know how it goes. That book'll come in handy I'll bet. Don't lose it.

well good day folks,we had to meet the bus at 0600 hrs.we had to check out the hotel just in case our trainers were there to take us out.the day went like this we went outside to learn how the refeer unit worked for about 15 mins.then we went in to sign more paperwork concerning our comdata cards and fuel cards.as the day went on we were able to learn the satelite system of the trans am truck.this company has so many things u have to do to get the job done.after we finished that we were told if we were going to leave out today.sadly my trainer was on his home time and i dont get to leave till monday at the lastest.only 3 guys trainers were available and im suppose to leave out monday.the guy who i mentioned about his drivers license was given a bus ticket and taken back to the bus station to travel back to boston mass.whew a long ride for this guy.he will have to return to oleathe kansas to get another trainer.so here i sat waiting at the hotel room,if any of you truckers are around the t/a in rockwall tx,can i get a ride to the wallmart ?
...anyway i will post monday to let you guys know if my trainer arrives.thanks for reading

oh this book is full of good info,i plan on reading it this week end to get a better grasp about what im suppose to do. -
Cool, and good to hear things are progressing. I would guess you're getting alot of stuff thrown at you all at once. My feeling about orientation was like stuffing your cheeks full while at the facility and chewing on your own time, but I was okay with that. Things don't really begin 'til you hit the road. You are wise to ask about a ride to Walmart. Get what you need, but no more as space is always tight. You seem to have the right attitude for trucking. Wanting to do it is the most important thing in my opinion, and you're itching to go so I think you'll be fine. Let's just hope that Obama doesn't get elected and wreck the economy worse than it already is, so you get plenty of loads! Stay cool down there and... well you know the drill. Thanks for posting.

since nobody answered my request for a ride to wal-mart i struck out walking and got my necessities.im still here in the room waiting on my trainer. i spoke with him saturday and was told he was on his home time.i respected that and he stated he would work his way to me by wednesday.he stated he would call monday, which is today but i have not heard from as of yet.im going to give him a call later in the day to see what the agenda.the poster above me stated he hopes obama does not get elected so the economy wont get messed up.i find this amusing because if we stay the course we are on now,god help him and god help us all if mccain wins.enuff politics.update later........................
