I completed school in June 2012 and got my CDL. I haven't driven a truck since august but was told I have to pass a road test at oreintation can anyone tell me how in depth Centrals road test is? I will be going out with a trainer for 5 weeks is what the recruter told me. If anyone has recently gone through this training I would appreciate any input you may have for me as what to expect.I will be going to Georgia for the orientation. Thank you in advance for any help for a newbe.

What was the name of the school?
Myself, I went to C-1. Got PRE-HIRE offers from Snyder, us eXPRESS. Before going to C-1.

I did get the offer to go to Centeral refigerated. But the minute they started to use "soft judo" on me. To get me to commite to a certain start date, I backed down. Think I might be starting out on a dedicated Walmart acount. Then after I get my experience in 6 months? Might mvoe on to somthing better.

I attended the FFE drivers Academy but after a couple weeks out with a trainer had to go home after taking care of things at home FFE said I wasn't eligable for rehire but they gave me a good report on my Dac.

Its pretty standard. You will go on a short road trip then do a series of manuevers in the yard including a backing test. They like to see you blow the horn before backing, put your flashers on and get out and look at least once whether you need to or not. You will also have a wellness exam during orientation to just give you heads up!

    Good luck man...

I think FFE gave you the old "fake standards" routine.
They have enough drivers and act like they did somthing to you, (putting the fear of god in other drivers) for not completting the tranining.

Yes, same with my skills test at KLLM. Honk the city horn, and even if you don't need it, get out, walk to the back of the trailer and look, then finish. Don't forget the flashers.

Take your time on the road test. Speed is not your friend.

Actually I am really surprised that they hired you after waiting so long after completing school. Most companies would have made you take a refresher course. Why did you wait so long? Its only to your benefit to attend orientation as soon as possible after graduating so that your newly learned skills are still fresh in your mind.

I start orientation with Central R... on Monday!! I have a CDL, but no experience. I am seeking info about the road test. I am nervous I won't pass since my driving school only taught me enough to pass the DMV test, so I only got to drive on specific route the whole time I was training and in Texas I only I to know how to straight back and parrellel park. And also the truck was automatic and the trailer was only a 30 ft.

Hey thanks. I do have some experience with a 10 speed, but my double clutching is not the best.
