I know i been gone a few days and I apologise. This thread serves a few purposes. For new drivers fresh out of school, it will document what I personally go through at orentation and time with my trainer with my chosen company.

I have another thread called "The adventure begins" for those new people who are looking into going to school documenting what I personally went through there. The reason for these threads is to get people prepared for what they could face, your mileage may vary and my experiances will not nessicarily be that of yourself too many factors to take into account, but this will atleast give you a glimpse.

Tomarrow is my first day or my 3 day orentation, and then by the end of the week I should be out with my trainer.

So tomarrow you should have your first update, and what to expect on your first day.

It's all good and I commend you and others for passing on the info to our newest brethern. It's daunting enough for someone to start a whole new career and all, but threads like yours and others here will take a little bit of the "unknown" for them.

    Congrats on your start.

And thats what I hope for, I was lucky enough to ride along and see a little and have some people befriend me here and talk me through parts of it (even if im still bad at some of it) and I am sure given time I will do better, but long and short of it is that I want to remove some fear and doubt that people are having.

Sorry! Sorry, I was sick as crap the last 2 days but here we go:

Day one was a STACK of paperwork, and some very very boring videos about a bunch of crap you already know.

And if I hear the words 'Hostile Work Enviorment sexual harassment law suit" one more time im gunna scream.

Basically a introduction to the company, 'we care, we wanna be great, you are the most important' yadda yuadda, I wont say how true it is or not because I have not been there long enough to know, but if you have ever worked retail, you know the type of speech im talking about.

Then physicals and lunch, (Pizza wich I promptly threw back up due to sickness)

    Day 2:

Some more paper work, More videos, these were about safety, loss prevention, home time, benefits, talked to shop people, met our DM for the trainer time, and our DM for the first 2-5 weeks after training time before we get a real DM, we also learned about the accident of a 45 car pile up in colorado and learned how accidents are handled. Swift seems to atleast dish out more 'unpreventable accidents' than i have heard companies giving out in the past.

Thats really it so far, orientation seems short, sweet, to the point.

Day 3 (tomarrow) We should/.might get our drivers numbers, and learn when we go out with our trainers. Also we got our cards for fuel and such today!

    Any questions so far?

Did you have a road/skills test anywhere in there?

Day three, more movies, little more paper work, and another talk on safety, they really push the safety thing.

Over all orientation was boring, common sense, and rather uneventful. So sorry the posts are short for it.
I should be getting a driver number at some point soon and then heading out with my trainer not too longer after..

And I will update more then...

The only thing that transportation companies have to sell is SERVICE. That means on-time. Being late during orientation isn't a good sign - at my carrier that usually means a bus ticket back to where you came from.

This I understand but when I am told to do something by my superior,i do not expect to get in trouble for if it messes up, the ten minutes sure to frozen doors il take,i shoulda left earlier, but the gps pouting me on wrong side of town after bring told it would be fine I don't. Mn

I am trying to keep negativity out of my threads, I'm not, saying you were I just know that these that's always trend to bring out the trolls who hate companies.
