What do you more experienced drivers do to organize all your reciepts and other paperwork on the road?
What techniques or methods do you use to stay organized?
If I don't stay organized I am bound to make a stupid mistake that could cost me money.

I kept seperate file folders for stuff. The expense receipts that would come off of taxes went in an expandable folder, filed by date. Receipts that would be reimbursed by the company went in a seperate folder and were turned in with the other paper work. BOLS were kept in their own folder. If I had hazmat, I clipped the hazmat paperwork to the outside of this folder for clear visability and quick access.
I also kept a running spreadsheet on my laptop for my expense receipts, for easy reference. -
Expandable file folders work great.
You can label each section ...
BOL
company reimburable receipts
non reimbursable receipts
then once a month take each section and pu them in business folder with month / year written on it for future use
Can you make costly mistakes?
All of us have made them.
wrong BOL number pon trip pack
wrong BOL in trip pack
even the companies themselves can lose submitted BOLs
make copies of everything you send in for your records. This way if the company says you didnt submit it, fax in a sopy of your copy. This will show it was submitted and you will finally get paid for.
Also understand what the companies will reimburse you for
scales
tolls
supplies
truck washes (( one a month ))
that is bout all Swift reimburses to company drivers.
