First, I am new to this board, but have been lurking for a while now. I have 3 years at another company, which will remain unnamed, and have finally decided to give Con-Way Truckload a chance. The original plan was to bring a teammate, but because of a few license issues he is ineligible. Thus, I will be going it alone. And tips will be appreciated. Also, when I get up and rolling I will be starting a blog about my experience.
I chose Con-Way because of their sheer size and miles they have to offer. In addition, I have talked to their drivers, and for the most part they seem happy. As soon as my friend takes care of his ticket problems, we will be teaming, and, from what I heard, Con-Way is one of the best companies for teams.
Anyway, I look forward to keeping you all updated on my progress.
Deuces!

bring every scrap of personal history back to when you were 17 to orientation. your just going to hate this. the recruiter lied to you from the word go. conway makes no promises of work. and you sign a form stating that. the recruiters don't do background checks prior to orientation. that gets done during orientation. so I don't how you are about things. I wouldn't waste a week on a non existant job offer. orientation is simply a job interview. the bad part is. even if you don't get the job. you have to report it as if you had a job. you have 3 years with one job as a team driver. plus you are a part of a pre-made team. there are tons of companies out there. that will be happy to have a pre-made team. with 3 yrs of experience at one job. I also don't know who you are working for now. celadon treats there teams great. in fact when i was working at celadon as a driver. I met a team that work at con-way. they said, that drivers get 6 good months of pay at conway. after that your screwed. so when the team asked con way why the mile cut? conway said, we just don't want to do that for the drivers. so your probably better off staying with the job you have now. untill the spring of 2017. by then the economy will be moving again. we'll have a different president one that is better at economics then the one we have now. that's how it goes. we get 8 years with a bad president. then 8 years with a good president.

On the driving test ...do NOT go through any yellow lights or turn arrows or Claude will fail you
same goes for pulling up into an intersection on a green light ...you must wait at the line until its totally clear for you to proceed thru and make your turn safely ...
i saw two guys with exp sent home packing ...and Conway policy is 6 months & you can try again -
woah really? We had to "take the intersection" at an unprotected left in Arizona (though it may have been during the smith system portion). On the actual road test, one of the drivers even kissed a curb on a right turn & passed.

Yes but they proceeded into the intersection then stopped ...maybe he was having a bad week
he also told the story of a road test that the driver took the curve on I95 north over the St. John's river and put the trailer tires up on the concrete wall....needless to say he didn't pass his test lol
